HARMAN Announces the JBL Studio 2 Loudspeakers

These new speaker models feature high-definition imaging derived directly from the JBL Professional M2 Master Reference Monitor.

Now idea how those sound, but they look sweet! I wander how they compare to the Pioneer SP-PK52FS I have already my eyes on...

The Pioneer SP-PK52FS are 6ohms and less sensitive at 87db/1w, are rated at 130w max and extend down to a claimed 40hz. The midrange and 2 'woofers' are all 5.25" and the tweeter just states is a 'tweeter' at 1" in size, no other specs given on it.

However, the Studio 290's from JBL 8ohms and considerably more sensitive at 91db/w while also being rated to a max of 225w. They extend down a a claimed 38hz and this is handled by the two 8" 'low frequency transducers', the midrange is 4" and the tweeter is a 1" horn-type design.


On a design front, I like the JBL's more. On a specs front, they are miles ahead. Its a clear choice for me; JBL's all day long vs the Pioneer set. Though, that isnt to say the SP-PK52FS are bad speakers... just not up to the level of the Studio 290's.

what amplifier is best suited for these..? isnt a set of stereo speakers from tannoy the best option for any (mostly realistic, unexaggerated) audio reproduction?
