TRENDnet, a best-in-class wired and wireless networking hardware brand, today from the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas, Nevada, is excited to announce a new Powerline 1000 or Gigabit class of Powerline solutions, with the launch of the Powerline 1000 Adapter Kit, model TPL-420E2K.
"Powerline 1000 effectively doubles the speed and possibilities of Powerline networking," stated Zak Wood, director of global marketing of TRENDnet. "TRENDnet's TPL-420E2K is designed to easily handle multi-HD streams in a busy connected home."
TRENDnet's TPL-420E2K is built around Qualcomm's QCA7500 chipset and delivers Gigabit class networking over existing electrical lines. The backbone of Powerline 1000, or the HomePlug AV2 standard, is Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Powerline technology. For the first time, Powerline products use all three electrical wires: the live, neutral, and ground wires. MIMO technology sends information over the fastest two out of the three available electrical wires. If a consumer lives in an old home which is not wired with ground wires the maximum throughput is reduced from 1,000 to 600 Mbps.
Whole Home Coverage
The TPL-420E2K connects over electrical lines for distances of up 300 meters (980 ft.), or the equivalent of a 5,000 square foot home. Powerline 1000 is backward compatible with Powerline 500 and 200, or HomePlug AV rated products. When connected to a lower speed adapter, speeds are bottlenecked by the lower speed rated adapter.
The TPL-420E2K units go into standby mode when not in use, thereby greatly reducing overall power consumption. This is a significant benefit since they are always plugged in. The two Powerline 1000 adapters included in the TPL-420E2K auto-connect out of the box over an encrypted Powerline signal with no CD installation required.
TPL-420E2K Warranty: 3 year limited
TPL-420E2K Availability: Available from retailers and other TRENDnet partners this June, 2014
TPL-420E2K MSRP: $169.99
