Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. ("Mad Catz") announced today the R.A.T. TE (Tournament Edition), a new mouse designed for the professional and competitive gaming community.

Expected to ship early 2014 for PC and Mac, the R.A.T. TE has been designed to appeal to the e-sports professional. With a newly developed Phillips Doppler-laser sensor, the R.A.T. TE provides reference quality tracking with speeds up to 8200 DPI.

Each feature of the R.A.T. TE has been engineered for mobility, performance and precision. Weight has been reduced to decrease inertia; speed and resolution have been radically improved for faster reaction times, and programmable button mapping has been optimized for popular e-sports games. In addition, customizable attributes such as 'Lift-Off' height calibration and dynamic surface detection have been added to create the ideal mouse for professional gamers.

"We launched our original R.A.T. line of gaming mice four years ago, and we're pleased to continue expanding this highly successful range with the announcement of the Tournament Edition model," said Darren Richardson, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz. "The R.A.T. TE is another example of our ongoing commitment to building high performance hardware for the passionate gaming community."

The R.A.T. is a very comfortable mouse, but this iteration doesn't seem to have changed from the last. The lift-off and surface detection don't seem like much. I think the TE should've stood for "Tron Edition". ^_^

I just got myself a Logitech G602 from the local store because it was on sale and I wanted to try giving up my wired G500. So far I've been happy with it. Other than looking a little weird, like all mice seem to nowadays, It's comfortable and doesn't feel like a wireless mouse at all. I'm glad Logitech gives you the option between changing DPI versus changing the sensitivity as opposed to only being able to change the DPI.

I love it how these companies talk of weight reduction as a good thing. Hello carpel tunnel!

All it took was some pain in my wrist with an MX518 but no pain with an MX500 and I quickly swapped over the 500's weight. Along with the studies that I found showing how necessary weights are for our wrists.

I had R.A.T.M.
The performance of laser sensor in it was somewhere between "very bad" and "fraud".
Had it replaced... Didn't help.

Got G700s now, and I'm happy.

Benchmark Scores N/A .. yet updating soon
My sister & here family gave me the R.A.T. 9 for Xmas last year (2012). I must say, it is truly A wonderful mouse. I have been PC gaming for 18 years (33years old). I have owned many Mice, Trackballs, finger mice, pointers, controllers ect ect. This is Hands down one of my favs. First off it is very well built, second its comfortable (because you can change out the parts too make it fit you. Third the batteries. What I mean is .. the battery (it comes with 2x) one will last all day ( I am disabled and well on my computer all day 8 - 10 hours ). I only have too change the battery once A day. And they are very easy and Quick to change. I use too hate wireless Mice because you would go threw batteries and they would die at the wrong time ...this one swaps in so easy.

Also I remember back in the day when I worked At electronics boutique ... Mad Catz stuff was junk ... I mean Utter Crap, Every time A customer would try to bye one of their controllers I would be like ... Yea spend the extra 10 and get A real controller... that thing will fall apart. Dont know what happen .. but mad catz can make mice.

The one thing I have too say about this new mouse RAT TE... where are all the parts ... not all mice are the same for everyone ... I think thats the best part of all of the other RATs .. you can make them fit/ comfortable for you ... other wise .. whats the point of A 150.00 mouse ???

I agree not everything needs to be superlite . Although I wouldn't mind if my wife got lighter , don't worry she thinks reading about PC hardware is boring .
