Japanese display maker Iiyama announced the ProLite GB2488HSU, a 24-inch monitor fit for gaming desktops. It might offer oh-so-2006 full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, but tops it up with stellar response times of 1 ms (GTG), and refresh-rates of 144 Hz. The display uses an LED-backlit TN-film panel. The LED brightness is controlled by an analog, non-PWM circuit, so it's absolutely flicker-free. The panel offers a maximum brightness of 350 cd/m², and dynamic mega-contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. Display inputs include DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort. Other features include 3W stereo speakers that take input from HDMI or 3.5 mm jack; and a stand that offers tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments. Measuring 568 mm x 230 mm x 443 mm (WxDxH), it weighs in at 5.5 kg. Slated for April, it's expected to be priced in Japan at 36,582¥ (US $359).
