Lian-Li Industrial Co. Ltd, today announces the release of two desk chassis - the single-system DK-01X and the dual-system DK-02X. Constructed of aluminum and combining the symbiotic relationship of desks and computer cases, these all-black hybrid chassis allow DIY builders to build a full computer inside a desk and show off their hardware creations through tempered glass desktops.

The DK-01X and DK-02X feature a lockable sliding door to make installations and upgrades easy. The adjustable/removable keyboard tray makes typing and mousing comfortable, and the side mounted pocket with headphone rack allows users to easily store unused accessories. The DK-01X support motherboards up to HPTX. The DK-02X supports motherboards up to HPTX for its workhorse-oriented system side, and mini-ITX motherboards on the gaming-oriented side.

From air to water cooling, the DK-01X and DK-02X are ready to take on the latest cooling hardware. Both desk chassis support 360mm radiators on the side, and also have removable brackets on the front - the DK-01X has one 360mm bracket while the DK-02X has two 240mm brackets. The DK-01X has 10 individually removable hard drives bays, while the DK-02X has 8 HDD bays for the smaller system and 9 HDDs for the larger workhorse-oriented system. This storage setup gives builders flexibility to use the space as they see fit, such as freeing up more room for water cooling.

Comfort for Your Viewing Pleasure
Both desk chassis have a height of 805mm (31.7"), but can be raised to 835mm (32.9") to provide more leg room. On the back, up to 3 monitor mounts can be installed for multiple display setups.

Hardware Compatibility
CPU coolers up to 180mm (7") in height and power supplies up to 280mm (11") in length are supported. VGA cards up to 410mm (16.5") inside the DK-01X and DK-02X.

Connectivity
For both the DK-01X and the DK-02X, the I/O panel is located at the front side of the sliding drawer. The DK-01X front I/O includes four USB 3.0 ports and HD audio connections, while the DK-02X sports two sets of these same connections for both systems. Also, located on the front sliding drawer of the DK-01X and DK-02X is a slim optical drive bay, which can house an SSD.

Price and Availability
The DK-01X and DK-02X will be available in the US at the end of July for the suggested retail prices of $989 and $1189 respectively.

For more information, visit the product pages of DK-01X and DK-02X.

$989, good job Lian Li, you just put the last nail in the coffin.

Sometimes I wonder if these companies are run by chromosome lacking idiots with a bachelors degree in marketing they bought on the interwebz.

Anyone else notice the glaring flaw in the keyboard tray, in that you need to put a mouse next to it. Where's the cable gonna go? How much vertical mouse space are you going to have? DERP.

I know it's made out of aluminum but the price was a shock to see. Tbh I thought they will be around 200-350 max, but than again what could have I expected from a manufacturer that put a 170$ price on a mini itx case.

i don't see this being very successful. however, at $900 it is going to be very profitable. Since it is essentially and oversized PC case with legs it could not have cost a lot in terms of engineering development time. And I bet they got some poor Asian kid to assemble that thing for $0.50 an hour.

Nice try LL, but no cigar. Why is it made from aluminum, it's a desk! I guess just to run up the price, since there's no other reason besides aesthetics. It doesn't have to be lightweight, you don't have to carry it. In fact a little more weight would make it more stable, especially in the legs. Those "folding card table" legs don't look very sturdy, and the overall look is cheap, except for the glass. It looks like a barbecue grill...

the keyboard tray looks too small. a keyboard with a built in palm rest won't fit there.... and the place for mouse is kinda tight too... where's the mouse cable gonna go ? or maybe lian li wants us to put the mouse and keyboard on top of the tempered glass ??

the price is too high.... if it's $400 - $550 it's a good deal... but almost $1000 ??? no way....

I like the concept but not the execution or the price.

Personally I think a lot of us here would rather mod a desk-case hybrid then buy something like this,.....even at half price.

BTW, IMO it looks really small and cramped with little to no leg room. The price might be more palatable if they added a whole bunch of accessories like attachable side tables and monitor arm mounts,...and even then it wouldn't quite be worth it IMO. I mean you can get a good tempered glass top "L" shaped desk for less then ~$200 USD.

Id much rather by that cheap ~$200 desk, a slide out motherboard try and some sheet metal so I can go modding my own desk,....

I know that extra 1.2" is going to make all the difference in the world. :)

As soon as I saw this was Lian-Li and aluminum I knew the price was going to be big $$$. :(

They should bundle a bag of lollipops with it so they can let the buyer know they are a sucker.

Reinvents the computer desk and fails. You can clearly see from the video that the tray doesn't have enough area to move a mouse on it so why do they even bother. Back to the drawing board lian li and do it right next time.

Looks like they added mounting points and a glass top to an child's desk.

At "$989 and $1189 respectively," the crack pipes must be a blazing over at LL HQ.

I'm actually surprised that the pricing is so reasonable. A decent desk for a PC is a few hundred bucks, and a good Lian Li case is another few hundred bucks. This is a huge chunk of aluminum and shipping/logistics is probably pretty high in the volume they're going to move.

I've spent a lot more money on a desk than this and it didn't hold a PC inside it.

Nice work Lian Li, not quite as cool as the Red Harbinger but still neat.

C'mon George, it's a $400 case with some rinky-dink legs (add $50) and no place to store coloring books and crayons.

Shipping and logistics vs. sales volume, fair point, but 100+% mark-up?

Spark the pipe!

I think these guys were smoking the same stuff the Titan Z guys were smoking.
Maybe they're targeting the same market of breakfast smokers. xD

The Redharbinger cross desk is worth the extra price over this, I dont think this is even a desk not enough room on it, more like a side table or something

I bet, I can go back to my Elementary School and get a fold-top, and put a computer in it, w/ mods and come in for a price that is less than this. And it would be cooler than the pipe hitting goofs at Lian Li could ever imagine.

I would not pay a grand, or most of one, for a desk with nothing in it, and is as ugly as this!!
