NCASE M1 Crowdfunded Mini-ITX Case Prepares for New Production Run

NCASE today announced it has opened preorders for a second production run of the community-developed small form-factor case, the NCASE M1. Preorders are open for a limited time at www.ncases.com, with production slated for the June-July time frame. Following a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2013, the limited run first edition of the M1 has been well-received by both users and reviewers alike. At just 12.6 liters in volume, it's one of the smallest available mini-ITX cases capable of housing high-end hardware. Thanks to its innovative design, the M1 achieves an unprecedented level of performance capability for its size, able to accommodate GPUs up to 12.5" and 240mm liquid cooling radiators. The NCASE team is a two-man collaboration that began in late 2012 as a project to design and produce a compact, high-quality, performance-oriented small-form factor PC case with input from the community.

Justification for setting that price, or paying that price? Two different things.

Paying that price: kind of a "whatever floats your boat" sort of thing. The M1 fits in a niche that is under-served by the larger manufacturers, so if this is the kind of thing you want, it is just about the only show in town (so if you really want it, your price ceiling goes up).

Setting that price: the niche is pretty small in terms of who actually wants something in this category, which leads to higher production costs for small batches.

Sarcasm? If not, then you're grossly over-estimating the size of this. I think your comment could be fairly targeted at something like the Prodigy (which BitFenix proved when they put out an identikit mATX version); the M1 is about 1/3rd the volume of a Prodigy, while maintaining support for full-size graphics and a full custom water-cooling loop..

WAY, WAY overpriced. $185 + $60 shipping + ~$50 import fees = no thanks.

Also I really wish case manufacturers would stop putting their hideous logos on the front of PC cases...first off, this is going to go with a custom build -- nobody cares who made the case and secondly they are not even a recognized case manufacturer (at least not yet anyway) so why would someone want to show it off in the first place?

For some it's a big deal that their contribution shaped how this case was designed and everyone who buys one will be a part of it's story. Those will be the people that find more value from that NCASE on the front than with most other brands. Just look at people who own Caselab cases, they love their cases. Every option carefully picked or they talked with a rep and got exactly what they wanted.

It's much smaller than you think it is. Way smaller than any mATX case on the market.

That looks awesome, beautifully done! I'd love to manage something like that too one day
