Consider moving one class to night classes, if available, this would bring you into the network of those already working in the field who are trying to reinforce their educational backgrounds ;)
That's a FANTASTIC idea. I don't think it's an option right now, yet at the same time, I hope to be one of the top students and get offers that way to work, and will be attending industry event whenever possible for EXACTLY that reason.

You will. ;) Is there something specific you are looking at?
No not really looking for anything specific other then the perhaps the M.2 slot which I wasn't able to locate. A better more detailed set of photos would be nice. I want to be able to read every label on every port,....

I'm curious to see if ASUS has dropped support for their ThunderboltEX II add-in card or if they omitted it from all boards without an Intel IGPU. Natural curiosity mind you since Apple's new Mac Pro is LGA2011 based and has no IGPU but still somehow was granted Thunderbolt / Thunderbolt II support. I know ASUS has changed the pin configuration or port connection for their "TB_Header". I think I see what looks like a "TB_Header" at the lower far right side but its impossible to tell from this photo.

BTW, for what its worth I majored in Electrical Engineering (EE). One of the classes I hated the most was Thermal Dynamics,.... well, that and Partial Differential Equations,......and anything to do with Chemistry,...... :)

i believe that slot is right by the atx power connector with the slot pointing upwards.

BTA mentioned something about a "standing" port, maybe that's it.

Oh, you shame me? Do my reviews not have good pictures? LoL.

Ha, I had MCSE when that was still allowed here in Canada... I want that damn "engineer" on my name again. :p Of course, with those "certifications" invalidated, I would have had to have taken all those courses again. So... this was the alternative that made sense since having a bunch of kids delayed things a bit.

Math, chem, physics, all no problem for me. Environmental Engineering kinda uses all of it, actually, so I should be good. Not worries about the school, but it does take up a significant portion of my time...and I still have physio to do, and 4 kids...It's my youngest's 7th birthday today. Just got back from shopping with him; we give our kids cash and then let them buy what they want, has done well with teaching the older ones about managing money and what things costs, etc... had a blast at the LEGO store. :D

I do have this board for review, very eager to jump in and see what's what. But...I haven't had the time as of yet. This weekend, however....;)

Wish you all the best with your studies and everything...but you need a magic wand, there's never enough time in the world in my eyes and I have just one child, but do make the most of it. I don't have to reassure you on this aspect because you've had at least 4 times to get it right. As far as this mobo goes, you're killing me!!! You're one of the few reviewers, whose review is almost never the same copy and paste crap(then edit where needed...) Each review have a different twist/feel to it, so I look out for it more so than others.

I think I see the M.2 slot now. Thanks to the poster that pointed it out.

BTW, when I was in college or at least when I started I didn't have any kids but at the end there I did for the last semester or so. However, I was in the US military / reserves and that did eat up some time. My military occupational specialty was 12B / Combat Engineer. That's construction / demolition of roads / bridges and landmine warfare. After school was paid for I was out :)

Many people rack up a lot of debt going to school I'm glad I didn't.

I have a few friends who are in about a quarter of a mil debt because of it, still not working in their field of study too.

This deluxe board costs about $450

I guess that is about what I expected with respect to price and many of the early X99 / LGA2011-3 boards.

A number of people liked to point out that there were cheaper X79 / LGA2011 boards but from what I recall there were no such cheaper options during the earlier release stage. Cheaper boards came later and were derivative.

So ~$400 for the Core i7 5820K and ~$450 for the ASUS X99 Deluxe is looking like ~$850 not including DDR4 RAM. I guess I can swing that but less would be nice,.... :)

Sure would, luckily I have access to a Microcenter...i forgot to find out how much that cpu will cost but i think they'll have it for around 299-320.

That's what I am hoping for, ~$299 to ~$329 but it's almost one of those things you dare not hope for and just don't know what to expect. I have three Microcenter locations about 30min away from me by car and if that is indeed the price range then I probably couldn't get to one of those locations fast enough.

If I can save ~$100 or more on the CPU and even ~$50 to ~$100 on the motherboard too I would be happy with that.

It's $300 @microcenter, I don't feel like going to MicroC so i "amazon'd" it, should be here tomorrow now it's time to read reviews and see if I should buy the 5930 instead.

Nice, I had no idea the hardware was listed at Amazon and Microcenter. I'm out of town now on vacation or I would seriously consider ordering some hardware now. Its best to wait for the reviews anyway though. Microcenter only seems to have three LGA2011-3 boards anyway,....

The ASUS X99 Deluxe is listed for about ~$399 on Amazon. The Core i7 5820K is ~$300 plus ~$25 tax. Not too bad at all,....

Biggest standout is the ROG being an E-ATX...there are minor things such as the Deluxe having dual NICS and others but I haven't read anything yet. Anytime I start someone interrupts me in the house.

I didnt know the ROG was E-ATX. I dont think that is a problem though.

About the Dual NICS, I can live with just one.

The reason why I asked is because Im planning on upgrading from a Q9450 Kentsfield so I really want to make sure I grab the best possible components for the next 3-4 years.
