ASUS announced one of its first Republic of Gamers branded mousepads, the ROG GM50. This unusually shaped mousepad features a fiber-weave design that's coated with a material that reduces friction, improves tracking accuracy, and has anti-bacterial properties. The pad is designed to strike a balance between speed and accuracy, with the company claiming it will go just as well be both FPS and RTS gaming. With an area of 380 mm x 280 mm, the GM50 is 3.5 mm thick. Other innovations include blunt corners, a mouse cord untangling band at one corner (though we're not sure how that will fly with bungee users), and a complimentary silicone wristband with ROG branding. ASUS is expected to launch the ROG GM50 in major markets by the end of September.

I just want the band :)

That's what I thought. I wondered how to transport my soft pad and now I only need something similar to this one :)

Aside from that it's a good pad: etched edges, etc. 3.5 mm is a bit thick for me. I like my pads as thin as possbile, but not Razer Sphex thin. About 1.8-2mm is what I find comfortable. Right now I have two SteelSeries on 2mm. I really want to try the Logitech one's. But after the current ones wore out or if I get an irresistable deal :)

I would wear the band around my wrist.
Currently using a Mionix Propus 380 pad and very happy about it.

+1

The wire would continuously touch the pad adding an extra drag which would vary based on the position of the mouse (because if you would move it to the right, then more wire would touch the pad and the drag would be greater).
At times when there are special gamer equipment around for more than a decade to lift up the cable from the pad/table, I honestly can't think of anything more retarded than this one here

I actually think it's pretty nice. I mean it's a piece of shiny fabric over the edge. You can just skip it, you don't have to route your cable through. And for people with wireless mice it doesn't even matter. I haven't seen other manifacturers do this. I'd rather have it in the middle though, not the corner.

Mice bundgies usually cost an arm and a leg for what they offer. A budget version like CM is like 20 bucks, which is manageable, but Roccat's itteration goes for 50 (if no rebate) brand new, which is I don't know...

I agree it would do no harm if left unused of course, I just don't see why would someone design/do such thing for "gamers". Perhaps it would be nice/useful for mice intended for office use.... I could also agree what that.
