ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced the limited-edition Ares III, the world's fastest water-cooled gaming graphics card with a slim, single-slot form factor. Powered by dual AMD Radeon Hawaii XT R9 290X GPUs factory-overclocked at 1030 MHz, and boasting 8 GB of GDDR5 memory with a clock speed of 5000 MHz, ROG Ares III delivers blazingly-fast performance. In 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme testing, this monster card performs 15% faster and runs Battlefield 4 at frame rates 33% greater than GTX Titan Z in 4K Ultra High Definition (3840x2160) resolution.

Featuring a hand-carved EK water block, ROG Ares III has a premium, water-cooled design that provides 25% cooler temperatures than the reference Radeon R9 295X2. ROG Ares III is made with exclusive ASUS Super Alloy Power components for enhanced durability and cooling, and comes with GPU Tweak for overclocking and online streaming that is as simple as it is flexible.

Engineering craftsmanship in a limited-edition card
Meticulously-engineered and carefully-crafted with close attention to detail, ROG Ares III includes premium design elements such as its sleek form factor and EK water block that is hand-carved for a precision fit with the card. This ultimate water-cooled graphics card runs 25% cooler than the reference R9 295X2. Under the Fire Strike Extreme benchmark, ROG Ares III runs 15% faster than GTX Titan Z. In 4K Ultra High Definition (3840x2160) resolution, it runs Battlefield 4 at an incredible 33% greater frame rate.

ROG Ares III will be manufactured in a limited run of just 500 individually-numbered units, making it highly-collectible.

Digi+ VRM with black metallic capacitors and 16-phase Super Alloy Power
ROG Ares III features Digi+ voltage-regulator module (VRM) technology with a 16-phase concrete-core power design and Japanese-made 10K black metallic capacitors, reducing power noise by 30% and enhancing energy efficiency by 15% without generating distracting whines and buzzes, compared to the reference 12-phase Radeon R9 295X. Digi+ VRM also widens voltage-modulation tolerance and improves overall stability and increases overclocking potential.

ROG-themed GPU Tweak and live streaming utility
ROG Ares III comes with GPU Tweak, an exclusive ASUS tool that enables users to squeeze the very best performance from their graphics card. GPU Tweak provides the ability to finely control clock speeds, voltages, fan performance and more in real time from an intuitive user interface, so overclocking is easy and can be carried out with high confidence.

GPU Tweak also includes a streaming tool that lets users share on-screen action over the internet in real time, meaning others can watch live as games are played. It is even possible to add a title to the streaming window along with scrolling text, pictures and webcam images.

AVAILABILITY & PRICING
ROG ARES III will be available from early September.

As for the card, looks good. Want to see the price of it. And it's power consumption. If it's down 15%, that's a good feat.

Want to see reviews.....

2 in a row 0_o, I see a trend is being set!

Cool, I actually want to see this put up against the Devil 13 edition (Well and the 295X2). It looks like this card runs off of 3 8 Pin connectors (well all I saw was 3 cables are supplied with it) so its going to be interesting to see how well it does in the overclocking realm. I really wish I had gotten (Or that the price will do down) on the Devil 13 edition card and this I would like to see in my machine as well.

Only sad thing is that based on normal Ares pricing, its probably going to be expensive seeing as how its a limited run.

This is right on schedule... If you're implying that it wasn't going to happen, typically it does happen. ROG will produce a "king of the generation" card from one of two sides. MARS version is for NVidia, and ARES version is for AMD. Both mean the same thing, and imply indirectly that this card is the king for this generation. So for late 2014, the King is AMD R9-295x over NVidia GTX Titan-Z.

As an owner of the previous Gen, ARES II aka AMD 7990, TDP will probably be the same. Cooling will be better, so less throttling of the Cores' 1st derivatives. Temperatures will be a little lower. Since they are better binned, you could probably get another 100 to 200 MHz OC. Frame Time Variances between the GPUs, the curves will possibly be a little tighter, but it won't be a significant difference to a reference R9-295x. You won't find anything new as far as DX or Mantle or Catalyst. Overall difference, just the best Hawaii GPUs on a ROG video card.

Looking at the image provided by Cristian_25H, it's a one-slot card. I think that's an improvement versus a three-slot GTX Titan-Z and two-slot R9-295x in the space department.

As usual, it should cost a vital body part.

I am thinking $1,500 like the previous generation. $1,500.98 < $3,000.99 < $2,999.98. NVidia GTX Titan-Z is still going to cost you more without a doubt.

Pricing....well factor in a 295X2 is around $1500, and the EKWB block they're using is $200 - then add about $300 for the "limited edition" numbered sticker/plate at a guess (after discounting off the removed AIO )
Anything ROG themed tends to command some obscure premium so it should definitely be north of $1700.

I can't see NV letting them do a TitanZ Mars card..... Shame, well, not - it'd be ultra bucks or just not feasible as it'd have to be a 3GB x2 780ti version.

It would be cool if they just said **** it and made a Mars card featuring 2 GTX 780ti cores and 6gb per GPU (12gb) but without the Titan branding/price at around I guess 1500+. But I think thats a dream that will never come true, it would be more likely for any of us to win the lottery :p

I was in doubt, but the more performance i see getting squeezed out of these cards make me believe we'll have a one 4K card (even if its two gpus) in the not too distant future.

I like that they aren't messing around and went for a full coverage water block. This is what I always thought a flagship product should be.

If you are well read, I said it was normal price for ARES! And as always, it will definitely give this model clockeng options that R-9 295X2 unfortunately will not allow it. Just block is 180 € .Yes devill model would be competitive but does not hew block and slot thickness ! To built liquide coleeng on R-9 295X2 will cost you 230€ .We may be long debating what it is worth. 2x R-9 295X2 for $ 2,000 without upgrade is also very tempting and still expensive for me ...17.9 is coming . 1500€ it is!

I thought the ARES series was like a collectibles thing for the wealthy rather than a sane purchase!
Pretty much, and the timing on this if these numbers are to be believed, means that the usual diverting of unsold Asus ROG inventory being drip-fed onto eBay might start a little earlier than usual. Likely the reference 295X2 gets a price chop if the claimed performance of the incoming cards is correct, so the gap between that and the Ares III will become even more pronounced.
The Ares/Mars cards always seem to be a little late to the party ( a far cry from when Asus and Gigabyte gazumped the IHV), and the low production numbers allow for a write-down on inventory to be applied to brand marketing.
