Seagate Ships 10 Millionth Solid-State Hybrid Drive

i think it would be nice to give users more control over the ssd cache than market it like: " its more intelligent than you"

I've got two SSHDs and I love them. The 2.5" drive in my HTPC is super fast, boots to Windows just as fast as my machines with SSDs in them.

I do wish they put a larger SSD on the 3.5" variant though. I'd like to see the next generation have 16GB on the 2.5" drives and 32GB on the 3.5".

you nailed it. the reason i havent bought an sshd is my fear that the mlc nand cache wouldnt last reasonably long enough for me to enjoy the responsiveness of that drive.. i have been buying seagates since 1997, and still have the 2,5" 2500MB medalist in my drawer. i usually intend to use them 5-10 years if capacity suffices. but unless seagate provides a report regarding the longevity without degradation in parameters, sadly i cannot put my trust in this product. the next logical step is to go buy a crucial ssd m550 or at least mx100 as slc durable drives are terribly expensive and out ofreach for a regular user.
