ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of visual solution products, introduces the VG2438Sm 16:10 desktop monitor to its line of award-winning displays. The combination of premium SuperClear panel technology that provides wide viewing angles, as well as a 16:10 aspect ratio, ensures that the VG2438Sm 24-inch display offers an excellent screen experience for demanding computing usage from commercial to enterprise environments and more.

With 1920x1200 resolution, the ViewSonic VG2438Sm's additional vertical space and boosted pixels provide better resolution over standard Full HD monitors, making it ideal for productivity-based tasks from editing and designing to engineering applications. It also features a DisplayPort connection and built in USB hub for more adaptable and flexible connectivity.

The VG2438Sm is integrated with ViewSonic's distinctive ViewMode settings for enhanced on-screen content. The five different intuitive pre-sets, "Game," "Movie," "Web," "Text" and "Mono" modes, allow the VG2438Sm to offer best-in-class calibration that enhances gamma curve and color temperature, in addition to an optimized combination of contrast and brightness. ViewMode provides accurate color rendering and excellent performance for different screen applications.

The fully ergonomic stand design creates a more comfortable working environment, allowing the VG2438Sm full adjustability of the display, including height adjustment, tilt, swivel and pivot, which maximizes productivity and enhances a user's comfort.

"The VG2438Sm desktop monitor is the product a lot of our resellers and channel partners have been asking for, as it delivers the desired 16:10 aspect ratio for enterprise and commercial users," said Kenneth Mau, senior product marketing manager at ViewSonic Corp. "The additional vertical viewing space and stunning 1920x1200 resolution of the VG2438Sm delivers bonus screen real estate and is the perfect commercial display for applications and programs that require the unique 16:10 aspect ratio. The VG2438Sm continues ViewSonic's display heritage with product quality, outstanding front-of-screen performance, and future-proof functionalities."

The VG2438Sm comes with ViewSonic's industry-leading pixel policy, ensuring product reliability and quality that ViewSonic products consistently provide. The VG2438Sm will be available for an MSRP of $429(USD) and starts shipping in October 2014.

Why ?
16 x 10 (1920x1200) is superior to 16 x 9 (1920x1080).
So this is definitely no joke.

Yeah before 1080p and 720p were the tag line for everything, monitors came in 1200. It wasn't just work related monitors but all of them, even gaming. I honestly always wondered what happened to it. Why were we dumbing down to 1080 when we had just come from 1200? But marketing matters. Easy to market stuff in TV resolutions that everyone is being blasted with than it is in PC resolutions that most users don't have a clue about.

Now all it needs is 120Hz refresh rate and I might just have found a replacement for my current 1680x1050@120Hz monitor
