Silicon Power, the world's leading provider of memory storage solutions, today unveils the latest 7mm 2.5" SSS - Slim S80 for the new generation of ultra-slim notebooks with incredibly high capacities up to 960 GB. Built in an extra slim enclosure, the brand-new Slim S80 unleashes the full potential of the 6Gbps SATA III interface to further improve computing capability and mobility. Along with surprisingly fast transferring speeds, reasonable pricing and wide range of capacity choices, SP Slim S80 SSD is now feasible for users to make flexible configuration to achieve great capability enhancement.

Different from standard 9.5 mm SSDs, SP Slim S80 is geared with the super-slim 7 mm form factor for easy integration into the latest mobile computing platforms. Featuring ultra-slim exterior, Slim S80 perfectly complements Ultrabooks in design, and its impressive transfer rates make it the ideal SSD upgrade solution for computer enthusiasts, gamers and multitaskers who want to take their computing experiences to a new level.

Equipped with high-quality Phison controller and ultra-fast 6Gbps SATA III interface, Slim S80 delivers astonishing transfer rates up to Read/Write 555/530 MB/sec while offering impressive 4K random Read/Write speeds of up to 80,000 IOPS. With such incredible performances, Slim S80 can significantly reduce boot time, quickly load applications and provide higher reliability over traditional hard drives. For professionals who value the importance of speed and stability, Slim S80 is about to speed up all the operation faster and smoother without any waste in time.

While the use of Ultrabooks and ultra slim notebooks is getting widespread, Slim S80 can perfectly fit the market trend and offer users an effective and efficient upgrade solution. Only weighing 79g and measuring 7 mm in depth, Slim S80 is one of the lightest and thinnest SSD of its kind yet it is shock and vibration proof as it contains no moving parts. In addition, Slim S80 is built with S.M.A.R.T. monitoring system and ECC technology to guarantee higher data transmission safety; furthermore, Slim S80 implements the Wear Leveling technique to realize prolonged lifespan and better durability. Slim S80 is now available in 32 GB, 60 GB, 120 GB, 240 GB, 480 GB and 960 GB and is backed by a three year warranty. I don't know where Silicon Power's engineers have been in the past few years, but most consumer SSDs have been 7mm high (as my stack of M500s can attest to...) since the very beginning.

The 15mm SSDs come from the SAS lines you don't buy from amazon...

EDIT: Wrong vendor name... hurr durr

Why is it that everytime someone makes an SSD, they're a "leading provider" when I've never heard of them before? Are they coming up fast? Yes. Leading provider? Nah.

Everyone is the "Leading Provider" if they pick the right benchmarks ;)
