Zalman Denies Going Bankrupt

In the wake of Zalman's parent company Moneual getting in serious trouble over financial fraud, it was reported that Zalman is filing for bankruptcy protection. Over the weekend, Zalman's US office issued a statement, denying this. A company spokesperson for Zalman issued the following statement to the press.

I know that recently various media and other vendors are spreading rumors regarding Zalman going bankrupt over the recent scandals in Korea by our parent company Moneual. I wanted to assure you that these rumors of Zalman HQ going bankrupt are completely false. While our HQ is having some financial difficulties due to the recent troubles experienced by Moneual, Zalman is not going bankrupt.

There are many things that Zalman does that Noctua doesnt.

The problem is the competition is so fierce and zalman quite often then not forfeits the competition once the initial launch proves to be unsuccessful. Zalman used to do gaming monitors, SSDs & a load of other stuff... Even with the stuff they do, do like GPU coolers, they seemed to have stopped making them for newer cards. I dont think they really know what to focus on.

I agree with you, they seem to be too easy on giving up in many areas instead of working to better themselves and push further to bring more competition. I felt the N series SSD's were not bad and actually delivered decent performance overall considering the time they came out.

Though I do like many of their coolers and would love them to continue making some more of them.

It doesn't help that their customer service is completely nonexistent. Denying bankruptcy is the first thing heard from Zalman management in ages.

There are many things that Zalman does that Noctua doesnt.

That's why Noctua is so damn good, because they only focus on Cooling. Not cheap ass Cases, crappy Fan Controllers etc etc.

Noctua aint all that good lol, i would buy a Cougar fan over a Noctua any day of the week. And as Noctua don't do fan controllers i have Zalman fan controller here been using it for many years now with the added bonus of power usage which most don't do or don't do right.

One thing that Zalman does better than Noctua is freakin color scheme. Baby diarrhea and skin tones aren't the most appealing in the PC industry...

I really hope they don't go bankrupt but they have lost some of their mojo compared to 5 or so years ago. Their PSUs used to be epic but I'm not too sure about their new offerings. They seem to have slowed down the any new releases of laptop coolers too. Their heatsinks are kind of average by today's standards as well which is sad really (although their resorator heatsink/liquid cooling thingy was very, VERY cool but not that great).

well you do have company's like TT doing the same thing $20-$30 cheaper. Last time i looked they wanted $40-50 with a nice large fan so i got a TT one for 23$ and does just as good job in fact it's great for cooling the hot ONKYO AV's. lol.

I know what you mean with the Onkyo receivers haha - I have a TX-NR808 myself. My old man has an NAD receiver (T747 I think?) and I'm pretty sure it also doubles as a hot plate.

And yeh I agree with the cheaper competition. I have an ancient Zalman NC-2000 I use for my laptop which is REALLY quiet and cools my laptop pretty well and it's aluminium which I think was worth the extra at the time - paid around $50aud for mine. Although back then there wasn't really much competition as far as laptop coolers go (at least at the local shops near me). I think CM was the only competition and they were around $35.

Zalman was the shit back in 2005-06' for CPU coolers. Once I discovered Noctua, I never looked back.

Bankruptcy and financial troubles are not synonymous. The former indicates they have no other recourse than to file for bankruptcy which enables a company to sell off assets to pay off debt and such. The latter indicates that they're not so far under water that they can't recover from it or maybe Zalman knows more about their fiscal situation than we do...

Also so much bashing over Zalman. Some of you people really shouldn't post if you're just going to say crap like this:

Enjoy your huge cooler. My Zalman CNPS9900 doesn't just keep my skt2011 CPU cool, it could do it without the fan and with just the airflow in the case. On top of that it's tall and skinny, so I can still fully load my board with DIMMs that are as tall as they want to be. Before that I had a 9500 on my Core 2 Duo which was also a great cooler. In fact my friend who has my old C2D still uses that cooler. The simple fact is, that Zalman makes a decent cooler, but a good cooler is no substitute for airflow in your case. I used to use a push-pull setup and I quickly learned that the only reason it ran cool was because it was strong enough to push air out the back of the case without case fans...

All in all, stop bashing Zalman, this isn't the place to do it regardless of the fact that I think you people are wrong but you can argue with me in a different thread that someone else can make about comparing coolers.

I was paying them a compliment. I have always liked Zalman, and still do; I just like Noctua more.
