"Normal" people do not have the money to perpetually upgrade their PC to keep up with games. That is the entire idea behind consoles. While agree the PC is the better of the lot, 99% of the population does not buy $600 video cards on a regular basis.

And again I'll add to this by saying that a console is better for getting friends together for some split-screen multiplayer action.
