GIGABYTE Outs Cost-effective P85-Gaming 3 Motherboard

For those looking to build a gaming rig on a shoestring budget, yet want a "gamer-centric" motherboard that has good onboard audio, GIGABYTE launched just the thing - the P85-Gaming 3. This socket LGA1150 motherboard is based on Intel B85 Express chipset, and derives the "P" in its model name from the fact that it has minimal connectivity for its integrated graphics (just one HDMI port), since its target buyers use discrete graphics cards anyway. The board is built in the slim (190 mm wide) ATX form-factor, and draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS power connectors. The CPU is powered by a basic 4-phase VRM.

Expansion slots include one PCI-Express 3.0 x16, a second x16 slot that's electrical gen 2.0 x4 and wired to the PCH; and two each of PCIe 2.0 x1 and legacy PCI. Storage connectivity includes four SATA 6 Gb/s and two SATA 3 Gb/s. Its onboard audio solution features a Realtek ALC892 CODEC, backed by audio-grade electrolytic capacitors, a headphones amp, and ground-layer isolation. Gigabit Ethernet, and four USB 3.0 ports (two on the rear panel, two by headers), make for the rest of it. Expect an attractive sub-$100 price tag.

With only 2 USB ports in the back.. I'd use both of them up already with just my mouse and keyboard.

It's very minimal.. I'd want at least 4 to be safe (even if there is a header).

yeah, mostly now using usb based, and its kinda annoying when you need more

eh? what do you want some people enjoy having a full sized and more mobo ... i wen't thru all form factor (mITX mATX ATX SSI-EEB and co. ) and went back to ATX.

about "things of the past" the concept itself is becoming old (a thing of the past if you want ahah) so DVI ATX, heck let's add HDMI as a thing of the past ... we should only have displayport and mITX board, also keyboard and mouse are sooooo 70's and 60's respectively

Bad SATA placement heads and not enough USB ports for me, red don't seem to work for with this but looks are not every thing and as long as it did it's job it would not stop me buying it but design surly will.

Be grateful bro.. Indonesia is one of the countries that have the lowest tax on computer stuff and pc parts company seems to charge us the same price as US markets. Just compare Indonesian price with Australian or european

Sub-100, not 100. It will be around $70-80, which is decent.

The uATX version of this runs for $50 on Newegg in the U.S. I've used it for a couple of extreme budget builds. I had one that showed up with bent pins, but otherwise they've worked well. For a non-overclocking gaming system, many users don't need any more than what the B85 chipset provides.

I don't understand why anyone would buy this - there's nothing "Gaming" at all about this board, except the name. I guess maybe very young wannabe gamers with no money might buy this to try to convince their friends how cool they are...(?) It's just sad...
