Want to be the Face of TechPowerUp?

Being a father of four makes travelling to events not possible. I got everything else covered for sure though, so thanks for the vote of confidence. It really means a lot to me.

I've grown and learnt a lot while posting reviews on TPU, and I am very eager to see someone else step up and help us grow even more. ;)
You are not replaceable. :)

I hope that whoever is chosen isn't a mental muppet. Knowing the in's and out's of how things work that you are talking about is key. Please don't make your videos into newegg 'eggspert' reviews (its just people that have half a clue reviewing crap they have no business to be reviewing).

Thanks! :)

Oh god, isn't that the truth... (in regards to the "eggsperts")

Yeah, there really needs to be an expert running the show/videos. Someone like Dave or Cmaris... with respect, there are few posters here I would think has the knowledge to do it (as I would see fit).

I have to admit, I am half tempted...but only if it could be audio and not my face, LOL! I look like the dentist guy from The Hangover, LOL!

If you're going to require ages between 21 and 30, it sounds like you have a very particular "face" in mind for your youtube portal. If so, you should probably go on and toss in other pseudo-arbitrary demands that go along with that, too.

Might I suggest:

-Must be conventionally considered hot. Send pics.
-Must have boobs. Boobs should be easily visible. Cleavage should be implied if not obvious.
-Must be able to wear tight clothing and not look uncomfortable while doing so.
-Must be able to say phrases like "Now insert your Geforce 980 Ti Tri-SLI into the port. Rock it around if you must to ensure secure placement. If you happen to have more than one card, use next available PCI Express slot. When done, connect two cards together via SLI Connector." without losing pouting expression
-Must be 5'5 or shorter to ensure boobs and hardware make it in the view of the camera
-Must be able to giggle.

Hey, I got boobs...............Bhahahahaha...........Not the ones that anyone would want to see on YouTube though.

I have halfway decent knowledge and understanding and learn quick etc etc but lol, I can relate to the looks thing. I look like a homeless bum half the time.

I would love to hear more about the goals of what this person is meant to accomplish. We don't know the time requirements, or any potential compensation if any, or the exact task/goal that we would be trying to accomplish.

With this much ambiguity I expect a bunch of people who just want potential internet fame.

Yeh some more info on time requirements, goals etc would be useful for applicants imo.

Sooooooo...basically Lauren 2.0. :P

Can we add a Poll, blonde, brunette or redhead?
Blondes don't cut it for me when it comes to smarts.

Well we know last week W1zz said it would be one video review a week (IIRC), of a few minutes in length. However, RCoon just said here: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/what-are-you-playing.204644/page-37#post-3307908 that his 12 minute video took over 8 hours of work! In this case, the goal is to do a video review of new hardware as was stated in the other thread.

It certainly takes a while to research and put together a good quality video. If it's only one a week actual work may be 8 hours but always being on the lookout for notable events definitely would require having some free time unless a lot of the info came from TPUs articles themselves.

But above you it said a video review of a product. I would think that you would the card after W1z gets it for his testing to then show off the card and the results?

I think this is just a gauge of how you are on camera. I remember something about making a video about notable events and maybe travelling to do interview stuff. I'm on mobile though and can't double check.

Actually, it sounded like it would be a weekly hardware review on camera, with alot of the research done by TPU staff. The travel would be maybe once a year to an expo, which I'm sure would require a video report or two.

There seems to be some varying stuff between this and the old post. I can't wait until more info is posted.

Either way it sounds exciting.

So the simple answer is we don't know, we will be exploring and learning.

For the short term the goal is to make a weekly news show, maybe 5 minutes long, covering everything relevant that happened in the world of hardware. Further down the road, we could fly you to tradeshows and similar events, 1-3 times a year maybe, to record some video. Video reviews are not planned for now.

Time requirements: definitely not full time, I have no idea how long it takes to make a presentable 5 minute video.

Thanks for the clarity... still waffling on my interest on it... just hate being in front of the camera, but would like to branch out from being an unpaid volunteer reviewer at a small site, LOL.

That is just enough clarity. Thank you.

Thought about doing this but I do not have the space sadly.

Do all my work out of an 9 x 8 room which fits my rig, test rig, photo bench, excess hardware benches, light stands etc. Not exactly the most presentable space either.

I'm curious how many people have inquired at this point.

Last call for submissions, please send in yours this week.

Me too.. I decided I will pass on being the 'face' o fTPU though...

If you ever need a reviewer, let me know! ;)

I'll be posting mine shortly. It wasn't clear what you were looking for but now the thread seems to be more aimed towards hardware rather than gaming.

I'll be editing my current video to adapt to your expects.

Don't worry too much about what you talk about. We are interested in you, your voice and you in front of camera, not little product details.

I'm glad you posted this. I was going to rerecord mine. D:
