Thermal Solutions specialist GELID Solutions unveils the latest 1U low profile cooler for Intel CPU. The POLAR CPU cooler is a product of GELID Solutions SILENT product line. The POLAR is designed for HTPC, Panel PC, Car PC and 1U Server. Heatsink height of just 27 mm fits most slim low profile cases. The POLAR also has an improved heatsink fin configuration to achieve high cooling performance in a compact design. The cooler weighs only 127 g and especially conforms to lightweight Panel PC and Car PC applications.

A silent 75 mm frameless fan with the intelligent GELID PWM (Pulse Width Module) control was chosen to be integrated into the heat sink. The fan blades were optimized and with a fan speed of min. 1400 rpm it guarantees a high airflow. The intelligent GELID PWM control keeps the fan silent but accelerates the fan speed whenever additional cooling is needed. The multi-award winning high performance GC-2 thermal compound is already pre-applied on the heatsink. The POLAR is compatible to Intel Celeron, Pentium Dual-Core, Core i3 and Core i5 CPU with TDP 65W. The cooler fits multiple Intel CPU sockets such as LGA 1150, 1155 and 1156.

The cooler is RoHS and WEEE conform and carries a 5 year warranty. "Our POLAR CPU Cooler is a true masterpiece of technology in a compact design. It's slim, lightweight and silent (screws instead of pushpins)", said Gebhard Scherrer co-founder and Sales Director of GELID Solutions Ltd. The POLAR CPU cooler is available now and has a MSRP of USD 14 or Euro 12.

12 euro and 5 year wararnty....nice. 1400 rpm should be quiet enough. Its direct competition is Thermaltake Gravity 1L for the about the same cash with less warranty though. I hope it's available here as well. May be a face off for a few coolers below 34 mm of height on TPU :))) (these 2+ Silverstone NT07+ Noctua i9 for example).

Reminds me of the old Zalman flower CPU coolers. I'm so used to heatpipe tower coolers I almost forgot about these :D

Looks like a stock Intel design with a ring of fins around the outside. What if you pull the fan and strap a Delta to the top? :ohwell:

Back in the day (1999-2002) we used to put things like those on our GPUs to aid in cooling. :)

Doesn't anyone wonder why there are no photos showing the base of the cooler? Kind of strange that the base is not shown even on their website, and is absent from their press kit as well. I'm guessing this means that it's all aluminum, with no solid copper slug in the middle. Even Intel's stock coolers have a copper slug, at least the ones that come with K series CPUs (and I think the G3258 as well). This product may be bogus (performs worse than Intel stock cooler?) If you've ever used copper cookware, the first thing you notice is how quickly it draws the heat from the burner compared to your "Cheapie" aluminum ones. So perhaps your average housewife could design a better cooler than this one. Note to Intel legal team; these guys ripped of your design for throw-away Celeron coolers from 20 years ago...

Below 65W most of them don't.

This product may be bogus (performs worse than Intel stock cooler?)

Stock Intel cooler runs at 2400-2500 RPM. If you drop that to 1400 rpm (as much as this 75mm runs), the performance isn't that stellar.

Looks like a cheap and poor solution to me. I agree with the required under-body photo being required here, or at least a mention of the material used underneath. If this is aluminium throughout, probably better off with another product.
Also, having a full profile GPU in the picture can help customers have a visual on the actual CPU fan size but at the same time it has the stupid factor, meaning, it defeats the purpose of having such a low profile CPU cooler and a full sized GPU.
