AOC Unveils U3277PQU and Q3277PQU 32-inch Monitors

AOC unveiled the U3277PQU and the Q3277PQU 32-inch monitors. Both models look identical, but differ with resolutions. The U3277PQU offers 4K Ultra (3840 x 2160 pixels), whereas the Q3277PQU offers WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels). The Q3277PQU features an AMVA display panel, with 178°/178° viewing angles, 4 ms (GTG) response time, 300 cd/m² maximum brightness, dynamic mega-contrast ratio, 30-bit color (1.07 billion colors), and inputs that include dual-link DVI, DisplayPort 1.2, and HDMI 1.4 with MHL support.

The U3277PQU, on the other hand, features an IPS display panel, with 178°/178° viewing angles, 30-bit color (1.07 billion colors), 4 ms (GTG) response time, 350 cd/m² maximum brightness, and dynamic mega-contrast ratio. Display inputs include HDMI with MHL support (30 Hz), and DisplayPort 1.2 (needed for 60 Hz). Both models are backed by 3-year warranties. The U3277PQU is expected to be priced around US $800, and the Q3277PQU around $500.

I'm wondering if these might be using the same panels as the BenQ BL3200PT and BL3201PT. Almost the same specs as far as I can tell.

most new 4K monitors these days are coming with HDMI 1.4 - nobody talks about that. But when AMD chooses to be with HDMI 1.4 even if Display port 1.2 can support everything of HDMI 2.0, everyone sh*ts AMD. Oh well....

I wouldn't expect AOC to be a leader in newer technology such as HDMI 2.0 rather I would expect them to be a bit more cost effective (AKA cheaper).

Presumably HDMI 2.0 is something that will come with newer monitors shortly and there are already UHD 4k Smart TVs that come with HDMI 2.0. People that already have supported hardware know the benefits of it (when they have a compliant card) and they know the obstacle that willing noncompliance on the part of AMD poses here.

I think there is an important distinction we need to make between a computer monitor, usually with display port making the HDMI capabilities less important, and a TV which only has HDMI making it a big deal which revision is used. AMD was talking up 4k in the living room with the fury series, and 30hz with HDMI 1.4 is not satisfactory, especially when the quality TV's are true HDMI 2.0 60hz. the implied double standard just doesn't seem valid in this case to me.
