NVIDIA Announces the GeForce GTX 950 Graphics Card

NVIDIA announced the GeForce GTX 950, its latest entry-mainstream graphics card targeted at sub-$500 gaming PC builds that compete with game-consoles. The card is designed to offer sufficient pixel-crunching muscle for resolutions such as 1600 x 900 and 1920 x 1080 (moderate-high details). The GTX 950 succeeds the GTX 750 Ti, and is priced at US $159.99.

Based on the same 28 nm GM206 silicon as the GeForce GTX 960, the GTX 950 offers 768 CUDA cores based on the 2nd generation "Maxwell" architecture, 48 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, across a 128-bit wide memory interface. Its core is clocked at 1024 MHz, with 1188 MHz GPU Boost, and 6.60 GHz (GDDR5-effective) memory. At its given specs, the card has a typical board power rating of just 90W, and makes do with a single 6-pin PCIe power connector.

Good looking IO layout, to bad many of the companies chose some odd custom designs for the outputs instead of sticking with the amazing design Nvidia chose reference!

The fan makes me laugh because of how tiny it is on this one. I want to see if this round we see some of those low profile versions or single slot cards!!!

Every single card reviewed today was twin fan ... a 90W rating doesn't need the hassle of twin fan.

Well there was this that was a single slot blower, but other than that the closest were those low profile dual slot GTX 750ti's. I would love to see some more tiny cards again!

I hope this realm does get explored though!

I don't like this card ... it's weak but it wants to look powerful ... great for overpriced budget boutique gaming machines ... also too many of these will be sold to people thinking they are actually upgrading into the 900 series and the fabled Maxwell. I hope humanity learned that 950 is not actually greater than 760 when it comes to nvidia GPUs, but I doubt it.

If someone with a 760 upgrades to one of these, then they need a good wakeup slap, because they are obviously in a dreamworld.

Yeah, that would be a side grade at best. Even the power savings wouldn't amount to much unless you pay some ridiculous amount for electricity.

easy just rip a cooler off a quadro k2200
make the fan larger and you are done
