SilentiumPC announced the Fortis 3 HE1425 CPU cooler. The third generation of Fortis CPU coolers from SilentiumPC raises the bar for price/performance even higher. Designed from scratch Fortis 3 HE1425 is a large single tower type cooler with top tier performance at moderate price point. Engineered to achieve optimal balance between heat dissipation and airflow it uses five 6 mm high performance heatpipes transferring heat efficiently to 38 aluminum fins. In terms of styling we decided to black-out the logos giving the cooler stealth and professional look.

Despite the overall size of the cooler we managed to ensure ultimate compatibility with other components. Most distinctive feature is an asymmetric heatsink design allowing to accommodate tall high-end RAM modules. Utilizing low-profile mounting screws and being only 158mm in height theFortis 3 HE1425 is one of the most compact coolers equipped with 140mm fan. That means it can be successfully fitted inside most PC cases on the market.

Fortis 3 comes bundled with SilentiumPC Sigma PRO 140, a new fan designed specifically for this application it features new blade design and 500 ~ 1400 speed range perfectly matched with heatsink's thermal capabilities. Inaudible in normal operation it provides sufficient airflow for cooling down demanding CPUs. For even more airflow advanced users can install an optional 120/140mm fan using extra pair of mounting clips included in the package.

The cooler utilizes SilentiumPC's proven and highly praised multi-socket mounting mechanism. A simple yet effective combination of robust backplate, brackets and screws allows Fortis 3 HE1425 to be quickly and securely installed onto the motherboard. The kit also contains an uprated Pactum PT-1 thermal compound. Large V-shape heatsink cutout not only gives the cooler its unique look but also provides better access to rear locking screw. Compatibility list includes all modern AMD & Intel platforms as well as the latest intel Skylake 1151 socket. Included picture-by-picture and online video manuals will guide you seamlessly through the quick installation process.

Highlights:
  • High-performance single tower CPU cooler

Might get this if it performs as well as my Lucifer, since currently one of my cooling fans sits on top of my ram. Literally touching.

ohhh a macho clone ...
and at a right price, and they used the same ram i use for the "RAM clearance pic"

well .... not that my RAM need clearance but i always was a HR-02 unconditional (or Thermalright in general... love my IFX-14)

let's recap

Thermalright HR-02 Macho

Deepcool Lucifer
Raijintek Ereboss (well they can copy, they do a good DIY AIO that redeem them for that)
SilentiumPC Fortis 3 HE1425
not sure if i forgot another copycat

how many of them write in press release : "after month of R&D we came with a totally original design, bla bla bla ex-centered base, bla bla bla we are proud to present you the latest innovation, bla bla bla."

oohhh i just noticed that even the Sigma Pro fan is a pure copy of a TY-147 :D not even a shape change (oh well yes a little ... all side are flat unlike the TY-147 who is rounded and flat)

at last it's a HDT.

I think it was necessary to get a screwdriver down to the base.

Looks promising with nice gaps in the fins for lower pressure with high air flow and on top of that nicely priced.

Only thing i don't like is the crappy fan clips and do they give you 2 sets of them to attach a second fan or is that extra ? lol.

And if you use an AMD setup where the Dimms are alot closer to the socket you could just swap the 140mm fan for an nice 120mm fan instead

maybe better just put hole on that fins so it wont lose more dissipate area, oh one more. from design it looks you can put another fan so it supports dual fans, but since the cooler looks too close to the rear case fan

just another competitor slightly on par with the HR-02 Macho technically.

also it's not a total copycat like those i mention, so it has some merit.
