NVIDIA drivers for Windows XP

NVIDIA has released new WHQL certified ForceWare drivers for Windows XP, with separate drivers for GeForce 8-series cards and all other GeForce cards. The 8-series driver has been updated to version 158.22, with the main improvements listed by NVIDIA being increased performance in 3D applications and numerous game and compatibility fixes. Meanwhile, the new 94.24 driver for Windows XP and 2000 users running non-8-series GeForce cards can also be found on NVIDIA's website, although you will need to follow the link below because NVIDIA's site still directs users to the old version when you chose your card on the driver download page. The release notes are not yet available, but it is looks like a complete version of the driver with one of the only changes listed being added support for the GeForce 7200 GS.

I dont know about anyone else but these drivers increased stability in my rig and increased my overall fps by at least 5-7%.

Just an FYI, I was using the 93.71's.

2nd of may the 158.22 was released for 8 series, yesterday I looked and they had been given the WHQL for the same driver! But they do release new drivers for newer cards quite quickly imo

ok, i downloaded and tested, here is what i found:

driver 93.71- sm2.0 1270. HDR 1180.
driver 94.24- sm2.0 1272. HDR 1172.
So it is +2 in SM2.0 and -8 in HDR. not impressive

I get a 3DMark06 result identical to the first 8800 driver set.
But why i am getting a message that the driver had not passed the WHQL when i install them?
Nvidia says that they are WHQL, so, are they or not?

NVIDIA promised it's customers that NF3 is basically EOL for Vista (try installing your stuff in compatibility mode with XP?) .

And yes, I think NF3 support is dead unless anyone makes modded versions based on the NF4 drivers (if that's possible, not sure how similar they are).

Ok, first the legit Forceware 158.22 was released about 2+ weeks ago (with Windows Digital Signed msg came up while installing.) Then right now they just released another Forceware 158.22 --> samee version and features + supports for new 8600 & 8700 cards (again with the same Windows Digital Signed pops up while installing.) WTH... The driver versions are getting out of control, I bet even NVIDIA confused a little about their drivers creating. Talking abou us, the users, of course we're lost... In addition, the performance of the "new version" Forceware driver is the same (if not less) to the previous one. Man, look at the Forceware drivers (original, beta, excluding the modded) at Guru3D.com, haha it's Forceware 160.03 (beta from Nvidia). Don't tell me they're going to jump from 158.22 to 160.xx in their next release. Still, seems like they have two separate "driver-teams" working at Nvidia; one is "beta-driver group" and the other is "real-driver group", working their own without any communication between each other.. Now I'm speechless. Sigh~ :shadedshu

I agree - NVIDIA's drivers are way more complicated than they need to be, just look at the Catalyst drivers. They all follow one naming system and you download the same driver for all cards running on the same OS -much more user-friendly.

theres been loads of xp updates, its the NON G80 cards which havent had as many

Yeah, I was referring to the G7x series and lower. I haven't had to update NVIDIA drivers for Darth Flatulence's 6200 since...November?

It's insulting, I update my X850XT drivers once a month and they've gone from like 6.2 to 6.7 or something like that .

Well, it's understandable from Nvidia's point of view, they need to battle with ATI/AMD, they probably are sending everyone who knows drives to work with 8800 series to optimize...
