GIGABYTE expanded its Xtreme Gaming graphics card lineup with the GV-N960XTREME-4GD, a custom-design GeForce GTX 960 graphics card with 4 GB of memory, and customizable RGB lighting for its fans and top decal. The card is based on a custom-design PCB, with factory-overclocked speeds of 1304 MHz core and 1367 MHz GPU Boost, compared to NVIDIA-reference clocks of 1127 MHz core, 1178 MHz GPU Boost. The memory is left untouched at 7010 MHz (GDDR5-effective).

At the business-end of this product is its meaty, new-generation WindForce 2X cooling solution, which features a pair of 90 mm fans. The two fans spin in opposite directions while both blow air onto the GPU heatsink, the two impellers are designed with opposite orientation. The fans, and a GIGABYTE Xtreme Gaming logo on the top of the cooler shroud, are fitted with RGB LEDs that can be customized via software, letting you choose from 16.7 million colors. The card features a strong VRM, which draws power from a combination of 6-pin and 8-pin PCIe power connectors. A back-plate is included. GIGABYTE didn't mention pricing.

The only reason I put RGB lighting in my case was to make it stand out and look different, now everybody is doing it I may just take it all out...I don't want it anymore.

Once the plebs move in, I move out.

This has been coming for a while. For decades, movies and TV shows have depicted computers as large mainframes with banks of hundreds of blinking colored lights, as if the flashing lights were somehow doing the computing. Well, I think PCs have finally "gone Hollywood", like almost everything else. People expect a visual representation of all the amazing computing power they've spent thousands on, and now they have it. It all fits in with the Youtube mindset, "anyone can be a movie star". And of course all those "movie stars" deserve their flashing marquee, their name in lights so to speak. Any day I expect to see cases with LEDs that will spell out your name or perhaps OLED display panels you can put your smiling face on (no doubt from your latest "selfie"). Can I get a moment of silence, for the death of an era, the era when PCs were about performance, not "bling" (which might be an appropriate name for the new era, the "Bling Era").

Oled displays with programmable type have been around for a couple of years already. Useful for HTPC set ups.

It would be more impressive if the plastic fan shroud was photo-electric and the color could be changed to suit a build theme.

In many cases these leds can be turned off, so need to worry about disco pc if you dont like it. Also out of curiosity why this new product so close to new generation gpu launch?

..because it will be nearer to the end of the year before new generation low & mid range cards are launched.

Its only the cards that are replacing the 970 & 980 that will be launched first.

... and we don't even know if those are going to be launched "soon".

But yeah, in any case 960s aren't expected to be replaced anytime soon.

true but GTX 960 was released way back in Jan-16 just 3-4 months after release of GTX 980/970 cards. So if nVidia keeps the same upgrade cycle we might see GTX 960 replacement within a few months of high end GPU release. Also its funny how the pricing for these mid range cards has been jacked up.

You can't compromise on RGB lighting, you need the bling bling and powah to make it go faster!

My old MSI 875p P4 board had this little fan:

Witch had two Red , two Green and two Blue leds blinking in different patterns.

The standard PCB for the 960 is quite small right? have they doubled the size and crammed it full of phases or something here?
