Sigh, just because they aren't putting in performance improvements does not mean they are "gimping" the cards.

Yeah, unfortunately AMD really needs those results to be the other way round, when Kepler was the direct and only competition at the time those results would have been swell.

There is a fast sync option now, to access it you have to use nvprofile inspector

its by vsync section, to get it working just enable it (0x18888888), but disable any ingame vsync.
fastsync.png

And it works just tested it @ FEAR, it capped to mostly to 120fps, no tearing. But when it transitions between 60-120fps is not so smooth, still needs some ironing though.

EDIT: maybe its a bit better by other games, need to test some more..

Also there is a new feature by power management mode called "optimal power",
to me it sounds like it auto selects best scenario; either prefer max performance or default adaptive if its a less demanding game.

Nvidia past generation GPUs aging terribly - version 2

And here are more. :/

************ GIMP ALERT!!! **************
If you are running a Maxwell card, pay close attention.
Latest Nvidia drivers 365.19 look like they are gimping Maxwell cards
Proof:
Before updating drivers to 365.19
Prior to installing the new drivers, I ran some tests with 3DMark Firestrike Ultra 1.1
I was averaging around 7820-7837.
See results for details
http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8419939
http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8458151
After Updating to 365.19 my Firestrike Ultra scores have dropped by about 1000!!!
I ran 6 different steps (stock and overclocked) and I am averaging between 6200 - 6907
So far, I have been unable to break 7000 with the exact same config:
See and compare my results for yourselves

http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8458341
http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8458364
http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8458392
Note: This is only one test system, so we need more data to be sure. If you are running a Maxwell card, please run tests of your own, and compare with your previous Firestrike scores. I havent tried running Firestrike Extreme or other benchmarks as well, so it might be an issue with 4K only. I have reviewed my results many times over but can find no discernible difference in my config exccept for the change in drivers. Please review my results and feel free to point out any inconsistencies I might have missed. As I said we need more data .
If these drivers have been gimped, it is in everyones interest that this is discovered and exposed. Dont expect WCCFTech or any other tech journalists to do their homework. We are not the ones paying their bills.
Thanks for sharing your feedback.

Seriously, synthetic benches and comparisons to massively improved AMD drivers (they have over the past few months) to prove "gimping?" Nothing was gimped, the baseline was just raised kids. (Maybe if AMD released a new product rather than rebrands, they wouldn't still need to optimize the R9 290X, but yeah...) At any rate, this is fuzzy logic at it's finest.

And I'm not even going to comment on the idea that they are already gimping Maxwell cards... based on synthetic benches, because a.) My experience has been the opposite and b.) That's completely illogical. They are still selling them!

All nem.. has proven is that you should never buy AMD cards on release because it takes them 2 years to get the drivers right. Nvidia release working products at the start that beat AMD but if you wait a year to buy AMD, then you'll beat Nvidia's last gen. I think that's his gist. All the while - the performance you had with Nvidia remains steady. This post is entirely consistent with his trolling evidence.

Legacy mode still fixes issues but too its mean stop the optimization. :pimp:

Optimization of what? After a certain time, you've already squeezed most of what can be squeezed out of a video card (within reason). After that, it's just adding profiles for new games.
In no way does this mean Nvidia is intentionally gimping their older cards to sell you new ones.

Also, "legacy" at Nvidia means something else. It refers to cards which are no longer supported in the latest drivers. Those are usually relegated to an older branch, but still get occasional fixes.

And the legacy thing he keeps posting is for legacy "products." Meaning only they are not in active production and marketing. That's all.

Works great, the tearing in DoD is gone, love it. :peace:

Tested on GTA5 & BFH, works well. I didn't see any difference compared to my VSync + Triple Buffering settings...

From what I saw the whole point about it is it can run 120fps at 60Hz and have no tearing, e.g. when you need faster input reaction time vs regular 60Hz vsync.
