Sapphire Radeon RX 480 Nitro, Reference Cards Pictured

Here are some of the first pictures of the Radeon RX 480 Nitro, and a reference-derived semi-custom graphics card by Sapphire. The RX 480 Nitro features a new dual-fan aluminium fin-stack cooling solution by Sapphire, with what looks like a metal cooler shroud featuring brushed aluminium finish, and a pair of 100 mm fans ventilating a dense aluminium fin-stack heatsink. The company is also working on a card that's similar in design to AMD's reference card, with a few cosmetic changes, such as a glowing "Sapphire" logo instead of "Radeon," and a back-plate. The Radeon RX 480 is expected to go on sale a little later this month.

This looks like a cool card, literally. Only hope it's not going to be double the price of the $249 they promised.

We can hope; what we are told is that 2x RX480's in Crossfire beat the GTX1080, which is going to be way more of a bargain price/performance wise. GTX1080 for $700 *cough cough, wheeeeeze COUGH* and 2x RX480's for $400-500.

The 1080 (non-FE) is already listed for as "low" as $620. But that's largely irrelevant since it seems to be out of stock everywhere.

On topic, this card looks massive. Initially I thought it's a 3-slot solution. But it's sure nice having just one 6-pin connector. I have a thing for cards that don't require a dedicated power plant.

I don't care if 2x480 beat the 1080, which they didn't really show gaming benchmarks for that. What i care is a powerful card at 200$ being able to play AAA games on 1080p 60fps. If that is achieved then AMD sales will skyrocket.

697.79 US Dollar - for that price, i can get stock GTX 1070 in my country...
773.03 US Dollar - GTX 1070 FE.

Logic dictates if you can't get a 1070 at the US price, you can't get a 480 at the US price either. But hey, at those prices I can understand how you're looking to save any cent you can

Yeah but this is still overpriced, i could get 980 Ti for ~820USD half year ago.

It's time Amd need make 12gb high end card at least faster than 1080oc. In GPU there is no futureproof card. RX480 will be no exeption either.

Tbh, everything is overpriced around launch date. Give it 2-3 months and the prices should settle down.

This is more of a typical 1080p gamer's card, not an enthusiast class card. Faster than R9 290/GTX970, so more than enough for 1080p.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst seems to be the first game which really brings my 290 @ 1GHz down.

Yeah there is no "Futureproof" card because we dont know what the future holds and yes, the RX480 is no exception, neither is a GTX1080 or some "12gb high end card at least fast then 1080oc".
