NVIDIA GTX 970 Memory Class-action Claims Now Open

As a follow-up to the late-June 2016 decision by NVIDIA to enter a settlement with owners of GeForce GTX 970 graphics cards over the 2015 class-action lawsuit over falsely advertised memory amount, a website ominously named gtx970settlement.com sprung up by the law firms representing the class. This website connects legitimate owners of the GeForce GTX 970 graphics card to the class, and enables them to claim the USD $30 in damages NVIDIA agreed to pay each member of the class. You have to be a resident of the United States to enter the class, because the court adjudicating the class-action lawsuit only has jurisdiction over the US.

No, the legal fees were a separate issue. Nvidia also agreed to pay the 1.3 million dollars for the legal fees as part of the settlement. Nothing will be withheld from the $30 to each customer for legal fees.

As stated NV wins and the consumers will pay for this in the end anyways. you can wash out the cost by putting that $30 toward a inflated price of your next card or stop buying NV all together.

Most big corporations have a large slush fund meant for miscellaneous things like lawsuits.

This is planned for as part of doing business, with money regularly placed there.

That's great! then the price of NV cards will be coming down due to this? Yeah right.... the price has been going up up up with the release of each generation, so honestly we will never know, they will not raise the price of the current gen cards and the price of the next gen cards will likely be higher no matter what and regardless of this happening.

I was not disputing the rising cost of NVIDIA cards, LOL. We all know that is going to happen regardless. I was just pointing out that the lawsuit payout isn't the cause.

Thinking about it, I'd really like to have a reference 970 like the one in the picture. Their rarity makes them a collector's item for me.

I thought Best Buy had a kind of exclusive to sell reference 970 through a deal with Nvidia, and they where pretty easy to get from them (BB) up until about 6 months ago. BB is doing that again with the Founders Editions.

30 bucks/claiming customers (many will not even bother for 30 $) doesn't send any message.
A fine of like 5% from the financial year income will send a message.

AIB's are getting revenue for 970 left still sitting in the channel why shouldn't the customer get something?

They would never sell for lower price just because they can "afford" it. They charge whatever price buyers are willing to pay. Lawsuit or no lawsuit.
