According to a press-deck slide leaked by VideoCardz, NVIDIA could surprise with pricing of its GeForce GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti graphics cards. The GTX 1050 could be offered at $109, cheaper than the previously-rumored $119; while the faster and better-endowed GTX 1050 Ti could be offered at $139, cheaper than the $149 price-tag touted in older articles. Both SKUs, as previously reported, could be available from 25th October, 2016. The leaked slide also confirms specifications of the GTX 1050 to include 640 CUDA cores, and 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, while the GTX 1050 Ti will feature 768 CUDA cores, and double the memory amount, at 4 GB.

Someone's preparing for price war. If AMD responds and price RX 470 @ $150 - it would be a steal.

Exactly. 1050 and 1050Ti should not be more then a 100. I'm curious about the performance of those but seriously? I doubt they can pull off anything. Ti version probably to get along with rx 470 and 1050 for the lowest AMD model 460.

according to the reports I've seen the 1050ti produces 2.1tflops at stock speeds. the rx460 produces 2.2tflops at stock speeds. and both are priced nearly identically from the reports.

if the 1050 comes with a LP version I'm sure it'll sell great

edit:
some joker claims to have clocked the 1050ti up to 1.8ghz already.

Nvidia never put their GTX branded card below 100
as close as ever to that price was GT 640 with exactly same GPU configuration with slight lower clock and much slower memory from GTX 650

Can someone remind me when was the last time Nvidia created something really interesting at that price level? I really don't remember. The 1050Ti is a really interesting card at that price.

10 years ago that was the rule. With the low end market dead, because of integrated graphics being good enough for most people interesting for that kind of GPUs, under the $99 price point, we only get graphics cards that no one would recommend.

GTX 1050 Ti is looking to be the perfect 1080p card on a budget if you are willing to dial down the settings a bit for a few games. It has 4GB memory which should be enough for 2-3 years to come.

It is going to be an even bigger hit in gaming notebook space.

As for its performance, it will probably give 70-75% of RX470 performance, so I think both cards could co-exist.

outside of the mobile space it was the 700 series that last had low end cards.

as I said above the 1050ti is reported to produce 2.1 tflops. the 470 produces 4.9. the 460 produces 2.2. and a ps4 produces 2.3.

Tflops doesn't equal gaming performance. Nvidia cards have always yielded higher frames/flops and with the latest generation, the gap has only gotten wider.

I bought my custom 4770 for 80€ in 2009, my brother's custom 7770 for 110€ in 2012 and now the low-tier GPUs cost 140, almost double.

Transistor size dropped from 55/40nm to "14nm"
These cards belong to the 80-120$ range not higher and if my performance expectations are correct it should be:
120$ 1050Ti
100$ 1050-RX 465
80$ rx 460
Also, they should all have 2GB vram with optional 6pin for OC, compact PCB and small heatsinks, maybe 2 heatpipes.

transistor size did drop, but price per transistor didn't much.

In market economy, the market determines what the price "should be". If 1050Ti is indeed priced higher than it should be, then the demand will fall short of supply, stocks will build, and that will necessitate a price cut soon.

But I'm pretty sure it will be flying off the shelves when it arrives. That would mean it is priced right or even lower than what it "should be".

Yeah, all these cards will sell by the hundreds of thousands anyway, i was just expecting better performance from a process shrink at the low-end.
I mean...the reason they're expensive is because of the overkill PCB and cooling, you can get the 1060/470 instead for 199-220$ and have 2x performance compared to these.

twice the performance for twice the price would seem reasonable to me. is that weird?

I'm not so sure about that. GTX 1060 costs $250 which is around 80% higher.... and performance-wise too it should be 80-85% higher (GTX1060 is ~95% faster than GTX960, and GTX1050Ti looks to be 5-10% faster than GTX960 going by early benchmarks).

1050TI 768 cores @ 1324 MHz $140
1050 640 cores @ 1324 MHZ $110

the only real outlier here is the 1060 3gb

Hmm, didn't know that. Anyway it was bought 8 months later after release. Anyway I'm sure that cheapest 1050 ti will be at 170 or 180...
so wait 8 months after the 1050ti release, and I'm sure it will be below $100. Low end cards do not hold their premium for long.

And at this price rage, I highly doubt OEMs will overcharge that much for a 1050ti. $170 compared to $130 is a major deal breaker in this price segment. The 1060 is far less gouged then the 1070, and the 1070 is less gouged then the 1080. Gouging on the 1050ti will be minimal, simply because that market segment will not tolerate a higher price, they'll just go with something else.
