So did anyone happen to notice that AMD just recently put up this page for redeeming their game bundles. One of the steps being to download the "AMD Product Verification Tool". I'll let you all guess what that does.

Thanks nvidia. One bows and the rest have to follow, eh.

I highly doubt AMD's decision has anything to do with nVidia. I don't think they would be able to whip together a piece of software as well as the webpage in the day or two since the nVidia news broke. I'm guessing it is more likely that the game publishers approached both companies and insisted they do something to stop the free games from flooding onto the market.

Sounds like this is a publisher-driven initiative, rather than just those Nvidia mean a-holes. :p

That's what I gather from it.

It was so easy 2½ years ago when I bought a R9 280, just redeemed the code from AMD and I got standard Steam keys. Nvidia doesn't seem to know what "if it works, don't fix it works", or they just rather show the middle finger to users with stupid BS like this.

I don't know which I hate more, AMD's Gaming Evolved or Nvidia's GFE. After accidentally have installed both of those, they both are horrible IMO.

That wasn't recent unless you count 1yr recent. Plus they are different methods

From my understanding

Nvidia GFE account is linked to the game service account upon redeeming (GFE+Game Service). Cant trade unless your willing to hand over your gaming service info to strangers for activation.

AMD is just verified. You get the code and redeem it from the game service with-in 2months. You can still trade it

Even if that is true, AMD is still obviously moving the same direction as nVidia. And I betting it is because of pressure from the game publishers.

This is too bad, looks like I'm picking up cheap games only at AMD's expense now.

Yes, the promo has been going on for that long, but the terms have just been updated Dec 23rd of 2016. I know they weren't requiring hardware verification a year ago.

From the looks of it. They have required the Authentication tool since the start. Search google and reddit.

The update was the extension of the program from the looks of it
