How come the top Ryzen CPU is at half the price of Intel 8c16t 6900K since AMD led us to believe it is better? Why is an eight core 16 thread AMD CPU cheaper than the 4c8t 7700k?
Only reason Intel charged so much for those chips is because they had no competition. Even with their inflated prices and paltry yearly improvements, Intel still destroyed AMD on every front.
It's a new ballgame now and Intel will need to adjust prices so they can compete with AMD. Having said that, we still haven't seen much credible leaks regarding Zen's performance and their old 8 core chips were beaten by dual core Intel chips in many situations. I'd bet that Zen will still be lacking in IPC relative to Intel, but it will be a big improvement on Bulldozer et al.
