Half life , Oblivion ALWAYS favored ATI...Those who dont know it havent obviously seen the Benches from when those Games got released.
As for the Drivers im sure ATI will try to gain whatever it can and trust me when i say that they will even waste some image quality in order to get there.
And there are plenty of Benches out there that have the X2900XT BEHIND in 6 out of 10 tests with the BFG 8800GTS 320 OC which aint that well OCed anyways :)

Anyone can find selective benches.....how about these: :D And I would guess that these are the most common gaming resolutions. Am I a fanboi now Pete? :) ohhh and before you answer that, my 2 cards before this current card were an 1800XT and a 850XT PE.

Tatty beat me to it...
Also in Guru3d you can find more benchmarks favoring the 8800GTS over the X2900XT.
Not to mention that in the press conference ATI officials said that the X2900XT is here to go up against the 8800GTS , they didnt say that its here to slaughter the 8800GTS ;)

However, I do have to say, the 2900XT's/XTX's architecture would suggest that it MAY well be supreme in DX10 but we will have to wait for that story.

(not directed at Hellas) - I find it mildly amusing that no nVidia owners ever mention that. I've owned both nVidia and ATI cards, and like both. But the fact that the 2900 blows past the GTS on some in-game tests, and nearly matches a GTX, and has true HDMI with audio, is what lead me to buy it.

We could go back and forth constantly with this argument, and there would still be no clear winner.

So, can we all please just let it go?

I am interested to see how well the xtx performs. I read that the cores maybe cherry picked allowing for high OCs. However, what I am interested in is the ram latency. The lower the better. This will give the video cards some level of "boost" from the xt. As we seen from the x1950xtx and x1900xtx, clock for clock it wasn't worth the upgrade to GDDR4.

The only thing that i like in the X2900XT is the HDMI with Audio, i find it very nice, however i dont know the Quality it sends to either a TV set or an HDMI Amplifier thus i cant really tell...
However the Sound of the fan , the high temps , the power consumption and the fact that i had Numerous driver problems with the X1950XT are the reasons i wont be getting ATI anytime soon and not the performance / price ratio.

Just so you know, high temps are a little over hyped. Mine tops out around 74-76c. Fan isn't super loud either. Could be quieter, but it's not anything like the X1800XT coolers of yore. lol.

1. The high temps are false. I've posted about them in another thread.
2. The fan noise is not bad at all.
3. Power consumption is a none issue if you have the correct PSU

I request that you stop regurgitating the same anti HD 2900xt crap in every thread you post in.

1) False high temps ??? At least 5 MAJOR review sites have posted the same findings regarding the temps and im supposed to listen to you ?
2) Not bad ?? Same answer as above....
3) Power Consumption has to do with only with the PSU ? I thought it also had to do with the power bill...But even if it had to do with JUST the PSU why would anyone who has an 450-550 Watt PSU should need to upgrade to an 600+Watt PSU in order to get this card ? :)

Actually you can request whatever you want its a free world.....
My opinion is mine and good for me thousands more feel the same.
Now you wouldnt by any chance be supporting the X2900XT since you have it ?
So youre Possitiveness in every thread about the X2900XT doesnt make you the same you say about me ? Grow up :)

I acknowledge that definatly....my point was that anyone can find some benches to support their argument if they look hard enuff, not owning the 2900XT I would guess that generally, across the board it is more than a match for a 640MB GTS, Ok it loses in some but as you said, wins a lot and is generally across the board a little slower than the GTX with some exceptions, however like in many gfx benches, rarely is a cards strengths across all resolutions at all detail levels.

There I said it.....see I am not a fanboi! :D Would you say thats a fair appraisal?

-You do not own the card and can only obtain old, 2nd hand information.
-What 1000's of of people "feel" the same as you?
-Please provide the data that shows substantial change in your power bill?
-Words like: wouldn't, doesn't, you're and positiveness are found without apostrophe or misspelled.

-Sentence structure, spelling, etc say a lot about you instead of the message you are trying to convey. Don't get me wrong users in a forum do not spell check every post, it happens. But if you worked on that instead of attempting to bad mouth a product and user(s) on this forum your credibility would not be questioned. Therefore it is you not I that needs to grow up.

1.) Again I mention that mine tops out at 76c after an hour of playing STALKER (but I do admit that I have amazing airflow in my case)

2.) Do you own a 2900 to say that it is loud? It's not the quietest video card, but it isn't even close to the loudest either. If I set my Silverstone FM121 fan to half speed, I can't hear the 2900 while gaming. And don't most reviewers test cards in an open air platform?

3.) If you already have enough power supply, what's the problem? And if you're that worried about your electric bill going up by that small amount, you probably shouldn't have a gaming rig to begin with.

And lastly, the GTS and 2900 trade blows, depending on the benchmark/game. Sometimes the 2900 is nearly a match for a GTX. I never see a GTS approaching GTX frame rates at stock speeds. Despite that, you don't see me coming into all the 8800GTS threads, and bashing it.

If you don't like the 2900, that's fine, but quit coming into every 2900 thread you see, just to downtalk it. That's called trolling.

1) Actually im not going to place an ' in wouldnt just to make you happy....Its the internet not an writing test.

2) The 2900 is the LOUDEST amongst the last generation of cards, im not going to test it against previous generation cards cause its useless to do so.

3) The 2900 is nearly a match for the GTX in 3dmark ( which aint really a game ) and in 2-3 games that work better with ATI cards than with Nvidia ones.

4) I did test the X2900XT for 1 day just to see what everyone was so anxious about. Didnt see anything that was nearly what we , i , were expecting for this card as for what it scored against my OCed GTS well i have posted results in another thread along with numbers.

5) Posting my opinion against a product isnt trolling, its just speaking out my point of view since i happen to own both the 320 and the 640mb versions of the GTS in 2 different rigs and i did try the 2900 for 1 full day.

we shud be just glad that there are 2 companies competing in the video card market , because if either one bails out we will be screwed with the one in dominance ............... ati or nvidia , do we really have so much time to fight over these things , or do we do this just to show whose got a bigger piece ................. as far as i am concerned my 8800 gts plays my games perfectly , if it blows up or something ill buy a 2900 xt cause i know it is a also a nice card ........ if i could i'd use one for physx and oen for graphix , lol

The 2900 is power hungry and burns too much already to OC it with the stock cooler.....And even if i did it wouldnt go much. But the answer is no i didnt :)
We aint fighting zOaib its just that there always will be people that like Nvidia cards more and people that like ATI cards more and always they will call each other Fanboys but in the end noone accepts it :p

Benchmark Scores This varies from one driver to another.
1) Actually im not going to place an ' in wouldnt just to make you happy....Its the internet not an writing test.
Sentence structure, spelling and proper use of apostrophe does help others understand what you are trying to say.

2) The 2900 is the LOUDEST amongst the last generation of cards, im not going to test it against previous generation cards cause its useless to do so.
That information is incorrect from my point of view. And, you have no reference to verify that information because you do not own the video card.

3) The 2900 is nearly a match for the GTX in 3dmark ( which aint really a game ) and in 2-3 games that work better with ATI cards than with Nvidia ones.
That will improve as drivers improve, nothing new here.

4) I did test the X2900XT for 1 day just to see what everyone was so anxious about. Didnt see anything that was nearly what we , i , were expecting for this card as for what it scored against my OCed GTS well i have posted results in another thread along with numbers.
LOL, a stocked HD vs oc G80. This only shows how bias you are.

5) Posting my opinion against a product isnt trolling, its just speaking out my point of view since i happen to own both the 320 and the 640mb versions of the GTS in 2 different rigs and i did try the 2900 for 1 full day.
The trolling aspect of your post are argumentative and your opinions are not accurate or correct. When someone attempts to show you this you argue with them. You repeat this from one thread to another with the same exact theme "hd 2900 XT sucks". I call that trolling.

Power hungry? Again show me your electric bill that proves this to be an accurate statement (I asked before)?
Burns too much? This statement makes no sense at all.
You can OC this video card however, you need a 8-pin PCie cable to do so (with stock cooling).

Today's warning kitten is brought to you by the number 5, the letter Q, and the color red. (Sesame street, anyone :p).

Today's warning kitten is telling everyone to settle down, and anyone who doesn't take a chill pill will be given a two day stay in the TPU ban hotel, if you get my drift.
