AMD's RX 500 Series Specifications, Performance Leaked

AMD really sucked big time in terms of VR implementation. I bought into the hype of their so called LiquidVR. Up to this point nobody uses that stuff. What is worse is you never see any driver side support for it as well.

AMD posed polaris as a big "you don't need top tier card for VR" campaign. Now look at them finally realizing it is impossible for their low tier GPU to tackle VR. They screwed over a lot of customers who bought into their hype. Over reddit/vive there were users who bought the Vive/480 during discount and later have to shell out even more to by 1080 just so they can enjoy the HMD they bought.

I am seriously disappointed in RTG, more than ever. Knowing me as a guy who exclusively bought ATI cards. RTG is just no good now. They can only do some low end GPUs and that is it.

I have a strong feeling that VEGA will be another major disappointment as well. RTG, never fails to underwhelm you.

Why compering the card to a GTX 970? compere it to the GTX 780!!!
NO, frack it, go straight against the behemoths like GTX 690, that was super expensive and totally is a fair comparison.

Everyone said or thought it already but man....amd...really?...teh 300 series?
Just said, I mean, how can they "sell" this to us with a straight face, for shame, for SHAME

comparing to a GTX970 shows how low AMD has stoop in hopes for selling their cards. Seems they've stopped innovating again.

PlayStation pro chip ,ps4 slim chip ,Xbox one node swap ,xboxscorpio, RyZen CPUs , Polaris refinement;), Vega, I'd say they have both innovated And been busy.
This release doesn't look that inspired yet but I'm not interested in mid range cards ATM so there's hope they might have something worth while in the bag.
This folding rig im rockin has earned the same amount in a year(190million+) that it took me many ,many years to do before (10million)with multiple pcs at times too, using much less juice,I say this just so my purchase choice reasons out there, and it was an ok one i sleep well.

SWEET!!! It's faster than a 2yo card!!!!!!! :nutkick:

....which is like comparing it to a 280x......which is like comparing it to a 7970.....which was released like 6 years ago.

-----------------

The 560 looks to be a solid 1080p card, but those are a dime a dozen anyhow.

To be fair, a 380 is a 285, not a 280X. A 380X is an M295X/M390X but clocked higher.

Unless these overclock a heck of a lot better, a 480 on sale is a better buy.

Ok, AMD. what's this for?

The 200-300 refresh added full DX12 support; 300-400 was a completely new architecture. 400-500 is?

I have a request.

Please stop making me wait for a single GPU that can push the (now TWO years old) 1440p, 144hz, freesync monitor. I wonder how many other people are in the "nope, still not Vega" mood with me.

I feel I've been patient.

I don't really think you'll get something that powerful anytime soon, unless you're playing games like csgo, but then at that point, why would you need 2 2k monitor both at 144hz

We all saw this coming not surprised

Until reviews hard to say but every site thus far has confirmed it's just a 480 (or the Polaris arch) with refined energy use (so slightly higher clocks). Glad I got my dad a RX 480, at least this means the architecture is good for a few years.

What did your dad ever do to you to deserve such punishment? :p

I picked up a 480 OC 8GB a while ago, don't know why didn't need but it was on sale $60 off (1/4th) and only 1 left so I took the bait. The wattman profiles are nice to play with. Been able to shave 40w avg off on the handful of games I actually play with same settings and achive similar FPS. Plus idle is at 7w and H264 movies are at 14w using same profile could do better if I were to seperate them but thats when my lazyness kicks in. Large savings though 50% and 65% according to GPU-Z and in comparison to W1zzard reviews.

This is just disappointing really, I was hoping to upgrade to 500 series :-( , I made a good choice getting a GTX980ti witch performs more or less than the GTX1070 :-).

Faster lol. You're not even 15% off from OCed 1080 with a good OC.

Why are they comparing them to R9 300 series and not RX 400 series? o_O

At the end of the day these are just 400 series cards with higher clocks, which aren't unattainable by the current rx 4x0 cards. So the isn't any reason have a single thought about these new cards if you have an RX 470/480. AMD also realizes this so their logically targeting those who would actually benefit therefore more likely upgrade to.

Oh for a recent single slot card with this sort of power...

Sigh...
I guess I will stick with my R9 290 still...
or file in line with the Nvidia crowd again...

Look at this way W1zzard has a GTX 1060 6Gb 12% above a RX480 8Gb (ref vs ref); if the new cooling provides the 1340Mhz boost clocks consistently even that 6% increase might help if it sustains boost there more.

Yeah, it's all a big yawn unless RGT hits with a RX 580 8Gb $210 MSRP, but given that most Customs even now have been holding to like $240 (most don't even push rebates) I'd see that as unlikely. The RX 480 8Gb (ref) was a decent enough entry though not at the MSRP $229.

I just want to find out if the 580's can overclock to 1500Mhz then I'll consider one.

It will!!! For about 5 seconds in notepad :p :slap:

When was the last time you read a review here at TPU

They comparing to the 300s because they targeting people who has those or older tech. They don't want 400 owners to throw away their cards. It would be nonsense, especially in the lower segment the cards targeting.

AMD's all-new flagship card: Performance below the 295x2, Fury, and .... Scorpio

ie performance behind its own 3 year old card, 2 year old card, and ... a console

Mostly a rebrand but not quite. Refined energy use is actually a really good thing. If AMD matches or beats Nvidia on efficiency then we should be seeing lots of competition in laptop cards.

Man, all the whining in this thread! It's been less the year since Polaris was introduced, and you expect something completely new? From tiny AMD? With Polaris, Zen, and Vega coming soon, I think they are working overtime.

I didn't see AMD's new flagship card yet, dear troll.

As far as I know, that will launch at the 5th of May alongside with Prey...
