I will say it once and i will say it again, None of us should WANT Vega to fail. If vega fails that makes Nvidia's hold on the GPU market stronger. I am so sick of people who dont know much about pc building always saying that my computer sucks because i have AMD hardware in it. Lets take a moment to remember that people still believe that Nvidia HAS to be paired with INTEL and that AMD graphics card will break or just not work with Intel. IMHO we should be hoping for VEGA to be good.

I used to say everyone who bought Titans was stupid, nv is price gouging, and nv is selling mid-range gpus at high-end prices. However, for points 1 and 2, if the market will bear it - keep selling. For point 3, if an nv mid-range can sometimes outpace an AMD high-end then something is wrong. I hate to say it, but if I had the best crack in town I would keep raising the price until people stop buying it or someone starts producing crack that is just as good and cheaper.

When AMD starts catching up, things will change. Don't get me wrong, I have an a Ryzen coming up in my future and most likely a Vega. I would have bought my Ryzen on launch day but I got tired of waiting and bought a Sandy Bridge Xeon to use as my vm server.

AMD's biggest problem is that they can't get stuff out on time. You can clearly see that Vega was slated for early 2017 and end of May and early June is not early. Most people have already bought a 10 series and those that have a 9 series or 300 series are probably now going to wait until Volta to see which is better and by how much. I have been contemplating buying a 1080Ti because I am tired of waiting.
You must be on the best crack in town mate stop trolling me go bother someone else you biased person.
And I am not interested nthe opinion of biased people , for the record i fold so for a while nvidia where far shitter then amd for me but i don't force my uses and perception on others go figure.
You used to say stupid shit and still do.

It's waste the time too long for VEGA.
AMD VEGA GPU may or may not failed who know? but the time gap between R9 Fury X and Vega nearly 2 years taken however leak performance from
ES prototypes were terrible. 2 years pass only lower score than R9 Fury X OC to 1400MHz Clock 1 GHz HBM1. 2 years and tons of development cost are dust.

I think at this point we just have to remember 2 things:

1) Vega was designed to compete with Volta, not Pascal. This is the first new arch in 6 years from AMD, and it will be utilized for the next 1.5 - 2 years at least.

Vega should beat the 1080 Ti and fight the Titan XP (Or higher). Everything from clockspeeds, arch changes, and die size suggest this card is meant to be a monster. Not saying it will succeed, but that is what it is meant to do - fight Volta.

2) AMD ran out of money in 2015. Considering Pascal is really just a die-shrunk Maxwell refresh, AMD figured they would just throw out dirt-cheap Polaris to stop them from bleeding marketshare while they wait for Vega.

Check AMD's old roadmaps, Polaris was the only thing listed for 2016. A stop-gap till they have money again.

Not true.

It was suppose to compete with Pascal.

NAVI is suppose to compete with Volta.
Same timeline.

Not sure what your problem is, I can't help that they were really late with both Ryzen and Vega. No bias here as I still have my pair of 6850s, built my wife's FM2 system, a spare Athlon x4 system, and an old Phenom system. My current config of my 4770K and 980 are the first Intel and nv purchases I have ever made. I'm not going to wait forever and I am sure AMD was really upset that I didn't. ::shrug::

Either way none of us actually know Vega's actual performance level all we have right now are leak's and rumors. We just gotta be patient.

Fine but you started with a comment about crack prices then went on to say it was ok for nvidia to gouge eyes out, I dissagree so hard i voted with my wallet , nvidia wont get money off me until their prices are reasonable, im not paying no epean tax no way.
As for Amd being late with Ryzen and vega , from the point of view your taking they were (ive had my system a while too) but as for Amds schedule , it didn't slip much at all ,both Amd and Nvidia were holding on for a new node.
During which nvidia had a better Fab deal ,thats the difference in the end clock speeds and more money to court devs, again its the way its meant to be played.

I am fine with this as i was fine having lesser gfx cards these last few years , bullshit aside ive used crossfire on and off for years and on the whole it was a more budget wise choice.
Yet ive always been a quality over fps gamer and Amd have kept me at ultra settings from 1080p to now @ 4k just fine despite the drama around forums.
Oh and my cards cost me less a year ago with waterblocks then most 1080s still cost now.
A year ago the price of a 1080 would net me 3 480s

The reason for this is the outsourcing of AMD CPU's & GPU's. Since they are fabless it generally takes longer to develop a chip which is mature enough for sales.

And we've seen alot of improvement on driver-level since release of a GPU (The RX480 for example does a almost 30% better these days compared to launch).

By looking at the specs of vega on tpu it looks very promissing and future wise. They no longer cant produce chips that have a brute-force approach such as the 290X or Fury X which comes with more heat and complications then ever. AMD will get there, sooner or later, they have a treasure of technology in house which is worldwide used these days by many company's.

A year ago two 480's is still about even with a 1080. The single 1080 was a better option then just like it is now. My thread shows why. Their slow time line and slip ups are also why I finally got pissed and grabbed a 1080ti. I don't have time to play tiddly winks while they get their shit together.

Im not suggesting anything other then what i said ,i know a 1080 can do so and a 1080ti is better , their also still dearer and sold by nvidia , the ti im ok with ,at least it is a high end gpu but too dear for me, it wasn't a personal attack on 1080 Owner's ,buy what you want as will I.
And all the games i play work fine on crossfire , in the end its always about what you're going to do with them that really matters, GtaV ,dirt rally, prey ,civ 6 and farcry 4 atm all at 4k highest settings i Can but thats secondary to folding flat out all the time.

I played most of those the same way with my pair of 480's. All while consuming double the power, dumping double the heat in my case and making gobs of noise. I'm well past disappointed.

I hope vega is better, but I have no hope it'll do what they say and I imagine we will have to deal with an x2 card to compete in the Ti space which means gobs of power and heat AGAIN.

Well fingers crossed eh and try to cheer the feck up its Sunday , if you want we could bicker all day would that help dya think.

I have said many times i wont be buying nvidia until they behave a little less shitty to my personal beliefs.
your opinion or the facts cant change that, only nvidias business and marketing department can sort that out ,that and a better market place.
So i hope vega is as good as i hope, because it might bring nvidia back down to realistic prices.

Huang reckons geforce is a console and in proprietary terms i get that, hes right ,,,but in that case they haven't the decency to actually launch it as a platform or back it as a dev ,no its inferred and done behind a line in the background ,ala its the way its meant to be played.

At least sony ms and Nintendo are clear on who and what they are.
In recent years nvidia has been a software company hardware company now motor ai company and console ish dev.
Its clear the last few years they have been trying to strongarm the pc gaming ecosystem into a fenced world where only nvidia works right in gaming , with this console generation they lost that war hence the diversification ,well the possibility of high returns helps too.
In reality your seeing the last remnants of nvidia as the graphics chip maker we all know and love , god knows what they will become.

Its not a coherant and clear company strategy imho and some of their products have been equally vaguely marketed.

Edited to death sorry I wasn't coherant before.

Reading various rumor sites, is more and more clear that AMD will pull another FuryX type of card, both price/perf wise compared to nVidia counterparts.

Side note, dual GPU is dead to me in a real world application for gaming. It just continues to be further and further irrelevant. For the 2 x games it works for (eventually), there are 10 x that are now having issues because of it. Unless of course it has the magic interposer that presents just one GPU, THAT would be something interesting.

Yep, I figured that out in 2006. Me and a buddy got back from deployment with loads of cash to blow. We built the best rigs that money could possibly buy to include 7900GTXs in SLI. Aside from 4 of these cards easily heating up a 2 bedroom apartment on the coldest day in winter, they provided nothing but frustration when trying to game due to driver issues.

I have never once considered doing SLI/CrossFire since then. It's best to just buy a single-powerful graphics card and replace it every generation or two.

I know I am going to buy a Vega card a year or so after launch. Also glad I'm happy with gaming at 1200p so I don't need the ultimate performance card. A year from now the prices surely will be good, too.

I am also happy with gaming at 1200p. I am just now getting ready to finally increase that to 1440p with a new monitor. 4k monitors aren't quite there yet for all of the qualities that I am looking for.
