GIGABYTE X299-UD4 Could be its Most Affordable LGA2066 Motherboard

GIGABYTE showed off what could be the company's most affordable socket LGA2066 motherboard, the X299-UD4. It features a minimalist design with features the platform provides. Built in the ATX form factor, the board draws power form a single 8-pin EPS connector, besides 24-pin ATX. The CPU is wired to eight DDR4 DIMM slots, besides three out of the five PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots. Two of the slots are electrical x4 and wired to the PCH.

Storage connectivity on the X299-UD4 includes two 32 Gb/s M.2 slots, and eight SATA 6 Gb/s ports. USB connectivity includes two 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 ports (both type-A), and eight USB 3.0 (four on the rear panel, four by headers). Networking includes a single GbE connection driven by an Intel i219-V controller, and audio is care of a Realtek ALC1220 (120 dBA SNR) codec with ground-layer isolation and WIMA capacitors. It wouldn't surprise us if this board goes for under $200.

Ultra durable? Really? Every Gigabyte product I have bought has either been DOA or died >6 months of normal use.

Exactly, I have been using Gigabyte boards since 2001 and I have only had 2 dead boards in the time, thats including all my clients I have built machines for.

Every Gigabyte board I have had with the UD designation has been impossible to kill with rational use.

I have an oldie-goodie GTX560Ti-448 on my desk which is 100% working. Gigabyte is my favourite brand on graphics cards, and at least every one of them had worked without problems.

This is the High End DeskTop segment, not the Budget DeskTop market. Come on, even you should know better.

If you think X399 boards will go cheaper than 200 i think you'd be sorely mistaken.

High end. The 5820K/6800K was basically the same as 6700K/7700K. You expect some premium because it's quad channel, but that much of a premium.

I have only had issues with my x99m gaming 5 recently and that was a small case. We will see how it lasts running 24/7 with the gpu's at 100%.

Basically...

It does have 50% more cores and threads than them though. That is what the premium is really for.
