AMD Confirms Radeon RX Vega is Launching at SIGGRAPH 2017

In a series of tweets, the official Radeon RX Twitter (and AMD employees) have confirmed what we were already told: that the gaming version of the company's Vega architecture would make its debut at this year's SIGGRAPH. Also, when asked about the Frontier Edition's (lacking) gaming chops, AMD's Jason Evangelho has come out with the warning that we all expected, and that we ourselves conveyed here: "it's premature to worry about a product's gaming performance by judging a different product NOT optimized for gaming."

We've waited a long time already, why not just a few more days? SIGGRAPH will take place between July 30th and August 3rd.

They may come up with something "driver not yet fully optimized" related and change the date again, you never know anymore with AMD these days.

I doubt that most people who waited now will suddenly run out and buy a 1080ti. There are still a lot of reasons to wait on the actual gaming card.

That most certainly won't happen. NVIDIA still has a stok of GTX 1000 series cards to sell, they won't release new gen that soon.

You'll be waiting an additional year then, so 18-24 months in reality (with 24months being more likely).

The Vega trains was derailed a long time ago. Now everybody should hop onboard the Navi train instead. It is "rumored" to be the first design that entirely lead by Raja. It will be glorious.

Wut else can we get HYPED UP about then? Vega train has ran off the track and now purely running on fans' spirit. It is better to start planning early, you know. I am all for Navi!

LoL With my 1070, i might even skip Volta. I'll just keep lowering settings until this beast has been tamed.

As long as I can build my pc in september. Hopeful for at least a 1080 conpetitor overall since a more pro wx9100 is being released and vega 10 with a significantly smaller die than vega FE. Optimizations are key. Just a shame it seems AMD can't combine gaming performance with professional performance like the quadros seem to do quite well. At least vega is "cheap" so far.

Yeah, but freesync UWQHD monitors are a lot cheaper than freesync versions too, and rx vega sounds cooler than geforce pascal, so there's that I need gtx1080 performance at the very least and UWQHD fressync monitors aren't just cheaper than g-sync versions, which I don't really care about, but would look much better on my desk. G-sync monitors look to gamery. The idea of an all-red pc instead of a mixed pc is pretty coo as well. If I get the performance I need, I'm picking what looks/feels best!

Waiting is better than finding out why we were made to wait (like if it can only trade blows with a 1070, after all that hype). If it could beat or even match a 1080, I think it would've been released already.

The mining craze seems to be shifting away from AMD and over to NVIDIA. You'd better hope coin values stay lower because if things spike again that price will be wishful thinking!

I don't think it ran off the track it's not out yet. ran off tracks for me would be if it's out and not worth the buy. That would be bad but for now, it's waiting for the train to leave the station. It's delayed but it is its first run so no wonder there are delays.

Doesn't the Frontier Edition have 2 x 8 GiB HBM stacks and Vega have 2 x 4 GiB HBM stacks? Here's hoping that makes a big difference in terms of supply.
