AMD Reportedly Rebranding RX 460 to RX 560D

In a bid to better make use of what could be a respectable stock of RX 460 graphics cards, AMD is reportedly rebranding these to the RX 500 series under the RX 560D name. Apparently, this is a straight rebrand, with no increased clocks or other revisions to the GPU die whatsoever. As such, this RX 560D would bring a lesser performance level than the current RX 560 already offers. Remember that the RX 560 is currently a rebrand of the RX 460 already, only with that card's full stream processor count (1,024) unlocked, whereas the original RX 460 only enabled 896 of the total 1,024 stream processors available on-die.

AMD already toyed with this additional "D" in the nomenclature in the past, with its RX 470 / RX 470D graphics cards, of which we've heard some rumblings lately. Considering that the RX 470D was a relatively limited release, only really being seen in the wild towards the Asian market, it is likely a safe bet that this RX 560D will follow the same path. Another option for the unwary miners to pick up?

You've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I want the D?"

Besides that, both AMD and nVidia have been rebranding their cards for a while (especially the low end), so it's not really anything special, or worth losing your marbles over.

Re-branding should be banned by law. Is basically fake advertisement since you sell the same crap under different name, claiming is new.

Not so. A refresh is a tuning of process. Rebrand is just relabelling. Nvidia get called out for it to, just they've done a bit less recently. They did a lot in the old 8800 days (can't recall chip, G80?) But it lasted a few gens. The GTX 680 became the GTX 770 but it might have been tuned.

Anyhoo, they both do it and they both get called out for it.

Really? So if AMD gives +10 MHz if it would be legal? Or it would be enough to change port configuration to call it "New model"?

So the one of the biggest PSU manufacturers CWT will bankrupt because such companies as Corsair, Chieftec and Thermaltake just re-brand CWT models. But if they offers different port configuration or different bundle does it still counts as re-branding?

And if same car in different markets is branded in different names does it should be called "illegal"?

You're comparing apples with melons again. We are talking about the same brand selling a same product under a new series which is , by nomenclature, newer and theoretically better than the old one.
