ASUS rolled out the VP28UQG, a 28-inch gaming-grade monitor with 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels) native resolution. Adding to its gaming credentials are 1 ms (GTG) response time, support for AMD FreeSync adaptive v-sync technology, and ASUS GamePlus, a collection of gamer-friendly features such as OSD crosshairs, frame-rate counter, and game genre-specific display presets. The monitor also features TÜV Rheinland Certification for flicker-free brightness control, and blue-light reduction.

The VP28UQG features a TN-film display panel with 170°/160° (H/V) viewing angles, 3840 x 2160 pixels native resolution, 1 ms response time (GTG), 10-bit (1.07 billion colors) palette, 300 cd/m² maximum brightness, and 1000:1 static contrast-ratio with dynamic mega-contrast ratio. Display inputs include one DisplayPort 1.2a, and two HDMI 2.0 connectors. The monitor features an audio DAC that puts out audio from the HDMI/DP input (your graphics card) to a 3.5 mm analog headphones jack. The company didn't reveal pricing.

8-bit+frc most likely.
That was my initial reaction also. But then if it is indeed 8bit+frc instead of true 10bit, why wouldn't Asus say so? AFAIK most 6bit+frc AH-IPS panels do have 6bit+frc written on their spec sheet instead of just 8bit.

I was able to say the same thing. Most likely it's not true 10-bit.

Because Marketing? Who knows, but all their 4k TN panels seem to be listed ad 10-bit (if they list the spec at all), which I highly doubt they are.

I'm in the middle of purchasing a 4k monitor. But I was aiming for IPS screen. Even found one pretty good product from LG department. 27UD69. Wonder what's the price tag for this Asus. Couldn't find it on ebay.

Yeah and see that 30fps all the time.

1- elitist "pc master race" kind of comment. Childish and unecessary.

2- most ps4 pro games are 60fps actually. Specially the ones aimed at this kind of monitor (competitive multiplayer -> 1ms TN)

Mortal Kombat X, Street Fighter, F1 2016, NBA 2k, Uncharted Online, Call of duty, Fifa, Pro Evolution Soccer, Rocket League, etc.

All with a huge e-sports scene on ps4. Some at native 1440p/4k. All of them at 60fps.

You're welcome.

Y'know, I could call you a console plebian but I'd be too obvious at this point. The fact you bring up consoles vs PC is already "childish and unecessary"

lmfao

Go search for Fifa FIWC prize money and Fut champions, Call of Duty World Series prize money, Pes League prize money and SFV evo cup prize money. Talk after. Those games have no e-sport scene on PC, console is your only option on those.

In fact I have a high-end PC and my most played games are Quake Champions and Northgard. Ironically 2 pc exclusives. I visit techpowerup everyday to read news about pc hardware and Im that guy that upgrades his rig regularly for the best experience. I own a 180hz panel aswell.

Simply some games still work better on console, be it because of hacked out servers or small userbase. Simple.

Btw I use PCs since the mighty 486, and I dont like elitists. I respect every gamer, from nintendo to pc.

Look I'm sure there is a 'scene' for every game from any big publisher, I'm not sure how you consider that a surprise. Its great marketing, it creates buzz, what more does a publisher want.

That by and in itself doesn't make it sensible though. E-sports on a console with its limited responsiveness in input device is by definition a silly thing. Its like the paralympics for fifteen year old gamers. What's more, none of this is community driven, while PC E-sports are.

How come unnecessary and childish? We are talking about 4k monitor for gaming so PS4 as a console fits hit even more than PC. He only mentioned this and pointed out that PS4 games run with 60FPS.(maybe not all but I don't know exactly how many) Nobody here is comparing PC vs PS4. Actually you have mentioned it first.

You came from a "e-sports on console LOL" to a "console has limited responsiveness in its input device". One doesn´t really combine with the other.

Btw why is a console limited in responsiveness? 60fps frame rate with 16.6ms frame time plus Wired controller, that is far from being limited. It works well enough for controller based games.

And just before you come up with the "Because on PC I can use 144hz/240hz and 200fps and bla bla bla"; yeah I know I know, I own a PG248Q 180hz and yes it is better with mouse based games like Quake, CS, etc. But a console doesn´t need that, in fact even on PC when I play Single Player games with a controller I lock them to 60fps so my GPU isn´t at 100% and save some energy (and noise). No advantage in having more if I don´t need twitch aim. You´re welcome.

Lol hi, I'm post 12 and 15 with nothing of mention for PC vs PS4, and they're post 16 with all the VS stuff. Happy counting!
