AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1900X Starts Selling in India

AMD's third Ryzen Threadripper series HEDT processor SKU, the Threadripper 1900X, started selling in India, ahead of its 31st August scheduled availability. Listed on the country's leading online PC hardware store PrimeABGB, the Threadripper 1900X is priced at INR 45,699. While this price roughly converts to USD $715, which is way above the $549 MSRP announced by AMD, it's important to note that in India the retailer margins and taxes on PC hardware tend to be very high. The same retailer, considered by PC enthusiasts in India as having some of the lowest prices, lists the Threadripper 1920X at INR 65,488 ($1,024), and the Threadripper 1950X at INR 82,008 ($1,283).

The PrimeABGB listing also indicates that the 8-core/16-thread Threadripper 1900X features 16 MB of L3 cache, as opposed to 32 MB on the 1920X and 1950X. This could mean that AMD is configuring the two "Summit Ridge" dies on the 1900X in a 2+2+2+2 CCX configuration, with 4 MB of L3 cache per CCX, just like on the Ryzen 5 1400. The chip still features a quad-channel DDR4 memory interface, and 64-lane PCIe. It is priced between the $390 6-core/12-thread Core i7-7800X and $590 i7-7820X.

1950X over here in Malaysia is around US$1120 or at MYR4800, after factoring in shipping, customs & 6% tax. Certain physical stores are selling at MYR5k, which is at US$1170. Yikes. for comparison, Intel's i9-7900X is at US$1036 or MYR4433 after shipping, customs & 6% tax included.

That's probably because Intel doesn;t allow such crazy markups. They have better control of the entire chain ~ Intel Retail Edge Program

there are two sides to supply and demand pricing.. too cheap and the item becomes rapidly unavailable..

too expensive and item remains available but only to those that can afford it..

the bottom line is demand for these cards will be higher than the supply and likely to remain so for quite some time...

from what i read leccy is cheap in India.. oddly this will put up the price people are prepared to pay for crypto mining cards in India.. he he..

What are you talking about? TR 1950X costs 700$ less than its Intel counterpart. So yeah, Intel is overpriced.

Think he (as many) is making a mistake by comparing based on "core" amounts rather than looking at what you get for the price/money.

As you showed yourself for your country for a 1000 euro you get a 10 core cpu from Intel.
For 1100 euro (which is pretty much exactly what AMD said the price would be) you get a 16 core cpu from AMD.

Aka AMD is a much better deal, or Intel is overpriced.

ermmm you might want to check again...
The 7900x is ₹81,243 on the same site, which is 1,268.70 USD, which is nicely above their recommended Customer Price over 999 USD as well soooooo yeah... seems more to do with India then anything else.

At least do some research before you make wild (fanboyish) claims.

Same goes for this rather on sided article though.
The Intel 7820x, shown in the provided chart to be costing 599 dollars is on that same Indian site ₹47,205 which translates to 737 USD.
So again, the SAME level up added expenses on Intel's side.

AMD 1900x - 550 dollars - India price 715 dollars
Intel 7820x - 599 dollars - India price 737 dollars

So can we stop this half assed (read: misleading) information sharing pls?

oh that explain why they are 899chf/940$ at my retailer, then ... stop trusting MSRP ... only a few select country will see it ...

oh wait it's the 1920X ... (oh well still cheaper than Intel ...) for the 1900X it should be around 749chf/783$ (if they did stock it ... )
