Logitech, a well-known company for its peripheral leadership, has brought us a blast from the blast in introducing its MX ERGO trackball-based mice. For some, this likely means absolutely nothing at all; but for others, it's likely a time to reminisce. The MX ERGO brings back the analog wonders of ages past, with revisited ergonomics (the attack angle can be adjusted between 0º and 20º) and precision for the masses - with the added convenience of wireless tech. There's a rechargeable 500 mAH Li-Po battery with up to 4 months duration.

There are some quality of life improvements like sensitivity shortcuts embedded for on-the-fly adjustment (320-440 dpi), a scroll will with tilt support, and a multi-computer workflow ability. This is done through the MX ERGO's Easy-Switch feature, which allows users to connect and work on two devices in parallel for dual connectivity. This feature can be used with either the Logitech 2.4GHz unifying dongle or Bluetooth. The MX ERGO is available immediately for $99.

It's nice to see that thumb Trackball mice aren't dead, but at that price I would rather get another M570.

I would not, as this one has Logitech's really good scroll wheel and I'm thinking of getting it to replace my M570 simply because of that, as I hate the scroll wheel on the M570.

It's crazy that it's been 7 years since the M570 came out though.

It's been a long time since some manufacturer introduced a trackball. I just hope its easy to clean unlike previous trackballs I have used.

That's cool. I thought they were done with trackballs for good. Good for them. Still rocking the M570 wireless trackball at work.

They definitely used cheap switch's on the M570, which was disappointing given its $50 price tag, of course now you can buy it for less than $30 new, but $100 is just more than I would feel comfortable paying for a mouse.

You know what would be really cool? If Logitech made a regular mouse WITH a trackball in the usual spot. I can see certain applications and games that would benefit from this extra layer of control.

Please return this mouse back to the 90's where it belongs. Thumb trackball mice have nothing to do with ergonomics, all they can do is give you a sore thumb.

Real ergo mice are completely vertical, something like the Evoluent VerticalMouse or the DXT Mouse that I use myself and love it.

Logi track balls have always been very nice.
Unfortunately, I had to switch to a Sanwa unit,
because Logi refuses to make their trackballs
with a CORD.

Oh HELL YES,
thank you Logitech !!!
Man, Logitech, the only company that cares about Trackballs and Webcam's today.
Right now Im using a Japanese imported Trackball mouse from Elecom, the EX-G, not cheap but works well :)

I did own their last M570 and that one was a bit cheap and faulty though, but this at least looks solid.
However "sensitivity shortcuts embedded for on-the-fly adjustment (320-440 dpi)"
Is that not rather low? would that dpi be enough for a 4k monitor or so?.. it seems rather low to me.
EDIT: wait... on the website it says: DPI (Min/Max) 512dpi to 2048dpi

So can the mouse switch button only switch by 320 to 440 dpi at max? so if you run 1000 dpi, at max the switch can go to 1440 dpi / 560 dpi?

Now if only someone would develop a gaming trackball mouse.
Especially Logitech with their Dark Lazer tech (ya know the mouse lazer that can track on glass) and dpi switches etc etc that would be awesome.

Can you imagine this mouse: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/313CDNQ2TNL.jpg
But with more buttons, scroll wheel, dpi switch and the ball itself being made out of glass or so?
Would be epic imo.

Oh and @D.Crepit
Totally agree man, cordless Trackballs... why... just whyyyyy.
Its the worst, but this one seems to have a cord option for charging, so this one should be golden.

That depends on your issues I would think. You don't have to move your arm with trackballs, just your thumb.

well i still bought a trackman marble (the one with front center ball and middle of each side buttons) in 2017 .... it's still listed stocked and sold :p

but that new model is refreshing, a friend was playing CS (1.5 1.6 the real one ...) with a similarly shaped trackman (not the trackman wheel tho ... the preceding model)
yep that one ...

Dont understand why it has a battery. Trackballs being very stationary, i cant see a wire getting in the way.
Even for mobile use, a wire doesnt seem like a inconvience.

logical ... i.e.: for a setup that use a beamer/really big screen and a stationary seat with limited space ... yep a 2-3m cable running across the room is definitely better than a battery :) (or a HTPC also .... but then a airmouse with integrated keyboard or a all in one media keyboard with trackpad are better choices )

yep ... seek better ;)

Thumbs have limited range of motion compared to pointers. Specially for stuff like photoshop, 3DSMax, etc.

Also for ergonomics, those trackball mice ruined my wrists I find mine hurt less using the G700 vs my trackman marble mice. marble mice are and/or gimmacks/for space starved.

I had to wear wrist braces/straps for months due to the marble mice. RUN FAR FAR AWAY!

Even for mobile use, a wire doesnt seem like a inconvience.

For one, their new mice and this trackball supports Bluetooth in addition to Logitech's proprietary 2.4GHz radio, so it can be used with multiple devices easily like this.

Secondly, the battery life is so good these days, that you can expect to get a years usage out of a standard AA battery, so why not lose the cord?

G700/s has the best scroll wheel

Well, the G500 and several other mice has the same scroll wheel and so does this thing. Sadly they've replaced it on their new gaming mice with some horrid crap that looks cool, but feels nasty. I got a G900 as a replacement for a faulty G700s and it made my wrist hurt in addition to the not so nice scroll wheel...

There are benefits to being mobile. Personally never cared for the ones with a trackball in the center, much easier for me to use the thumb.

I still use my first trackball mouse with my old X58 system, a Microsoft Optical Trackball I bought from the store I was working at for about $30, I've had it now for over a decade.
