NVIDIA is giving away copies of "Destiny 2" with new purchases of GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards. The "New Legends will Rise" game bundle sees NVIDIA add-in card (AIC) partners give away coupons that can be redeemed on the NVIDIA website for game keys to the season's hottest online multiplayer first-person shooter. The offer covers both reference-design and custom-design GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards sold in the retail channel; and gaming notebooks and desktops based on the two graphics cards. In addition to the game itself, you get early-access to the PC betas.

I will never understand why they always bundle these coupons only with the most expensive cards and why not the with the GTX 1060/1070 range or maybe even with the GTX 1050 Tis. I mean, if somebody can afford to buy a GTX 1080 (Ti) then they most definitely can afford to buy these games as well.

Because they want to push buyers to a higher tier, higher margin product.

Consider a prospective buyer of a GTX 1070. In his mind, he adds 50-60 bucks for the game to justify the purchase and if you take into account the inflated 1070 prices due to mining... there you go.

Is Nvidia really "Giving Away" this game though? With current GPU prices you are really just paying for the game and then some. 1070 should be $100 cheaper.

I pray to the machine elves that the Volta xx70 series isn't going to be another price hike of $100...how about back to the normal xx70 prices. Greedy fks.

Well if you are buying Destiny2 anyway, the card will be deducted 489-59 for you, sadly no season pass. at the price of GTX 1070 Ti you get 1080, assuming 1080 can do 12 GHz overclock and 1070 Ti at best 9 Ghz, it is a good deal. But yeah every thing is overpriced. 1080 should be just like GTX 680, and be replaced by faster 2070 with 12 GHz memory. just like GTX 770 was a 330$ card by November 2013, higher clocked with bump of the memory speeds to 7 GHz up from initial 6 GHz.
That will happen with Volta, we get 2688 Cuda/ 12 Ghz part as the xx70. So they just want to clear the inventory.

They want you to impress yourself and your friends running these games on higher settings. That's not going to happen with the lower end cards. Not to mention, there's less profit margin.

Edit: It should say "Giving away" instead of Giving away in the title.

Based on the open beta it is going to happen with lower end cards. They even recommend a GTX 1060 for 1080p 60fps with highest settings.

1060 seems solid for 1080p gaming on just about everything. I'd be happy with one, as I still use 1080p... I just went for higher "just because". Oh well.

Anyways, Destiny sucks. Because People Suck. I couldn't even enjoy the Destiny 1's Beta.

So far Destiny 2 seems more of the same, grindy and shooty, repetitive. I have to say I am still kinda wanting to try it out again, but it'll be the same thing in the end.

Well that's fine with me because I never played the first one

Well the take away from part 1 was: spoon fed, meagre amounts of content, combined with smooth but grindy gameplay. Its a real shame Destiny 2 is again so short on content, esp considering the price (also of DLC). I really dont mind the repetitive part, but if that same activity is done across only a handful of maps its real hard to stay motivated :p I like to compare it to Warframe, remarkably similar in concept, but it offers so many ways to farm that it stays pretty fresh.
