Acer's new Aspire A615-51G laptop is set to launch on January 8th. The A615-51G is 19.95 mm thick and sports a sleek and sturdy all-metal body. The IPS display measures 15.6 inches and has a resolution of 1920 x 1080. There are two models planned so far. The standard model comes with an Intel Core i5-8250U processor and a 256GB SSD, while the higher-end model features the more powerful Intel Core i7-8550U processor, 128GB SSD, and a 1TB HDD for additional storage.

However, the two models do have some characteristics in common. Both will come with 8GB of RAM and employ NVIDIA's GeForce MX150 graphics card with 2GB GDDR5 memory. The standard model will cost $825 approximately, and the high-end model will set you back $1000.

Nice laptop but I would like it even more if they would come in silver/gold colors.

So, 850 dollars for an ULV chip with a base clock of 1,6ghz and a GT1030. Most likely it will be 900€ here in Europe.

We have 7700hq + GTX1050ti for that price and only with additional 300g. Just saying.

The ULV laptop prices make no sense. Typical Intel. Soon AMD will have their APUs on laptops and then we can talk. But ofc Intel will drop the price instantly or release something good for the consumer. Only because someone is a threat to their business line.

Sad.

95w + 220w still.. Long way to go. Maybe around 2019 we have 4ghz 6 core on laptop and 4k capable gpu. By that time desktop systems will be irrelevant, except for enthusiasts.

Grab a laptop, connect to a 144hz screen at home. While keeping its mobility to use it on the couch and outside. Thats the future.

You can order a 8700k and a 1080 in a laptop now but it will cost around $3500.

$825 or $1,000 for a laptop with a dual core and a weak graphics card is too expensive. This laptop should be closer to $600.

Nope it has a quad core ULV & dGPU that is 2~3x faster than the best mobile IGP out there, including the upcoming RR ones. I have virtually the same model, sans the SSD & full HD display namely A515-51G, the price is fine though it could've been cheaper.

I think he might be refering to Clevo models. You can in fact put a desktop CPU there, but that shouldn´t even count as it is so bad. The heat it generates is beyond unreal and you end up staying with low clocks most of the time. And if you don´t, it will simple start throttling. The power consumption is not up there yet like I said.

Around 2019 we can expect some kind of 6 core/12 thread 8700HQ/9700HQ with 3,6 to 4ghz turbo clocks at 45w TDP (i7 8700 65w TDP 4,3ghz already) plus a GTX 1170 (?) similar to the current GTX1080ti (x70 model is usually as good as the previous gen x80ti).

Then it gets serious.

By that time like I said, desktops will be irrelevant, and mostly used for entrepise purposes or heavy content/media creation (8 cores, 16 cores, etc)
