Ubisoft Giving Away Free PC Copies of Watch Dogs

I cant complain since I got it free from a contest that I won about 2 years ago, the game is still trash.

I will complain on Watch Dogs 2 which is pure shit, the game will use up about 80% of my processor and I have a 7700k running at 4.6hgz. I am complaining because I got it free with a used SSD that I bought from someone, I could have sold it and recovered some of the cost of the SSD.

Even for free, people never fail to complain for any reason available. Either the game is crap, either the ubiplay is crap, either this, either that......

Those uplay and origin apps are pretty small. And it's not cancer lol. Just turn off auto start and you'll be fine.

They are all small and the only one I have on most of the time is Steam anyway. 440 games on Steam 55 on Origin and 30 or so on Uplay, oh and 35 on GoG Galaxy. They are all fine platforms in their own right. All but GoG have decent overlays with FPS counters(most important to me)and Steam is my "social gaming hub" so it's the one that's on if any one of them is on.

Back on topic, Ironically I just reinstalled Watchdogs last week to start a fresh play through I've owned it since day 1 and even finished it(Rare for me to actually finish a game as you can see by my large library)

I'm not concerned about the size of the application. But I don't want to babysit yet another account (probably linked to my cc) just for playing games, when there's already the option to publish on Steam and/or GOG.
I get it, game publishers are taking a page out of Hollywood's book and learn that the more you control the chain from production to customers, the more you get to milk it. But I vote with my wallet not to encourage that.

It's linked whatever way you link your Steam and/or GOG payment, if you set it that way.

You DO know that Steam itself is DRM, and over the last few years has taken to allowing publishers to use all the DRM they want on top of Steam? So now all except GOG do it.

I always see so many haters on Uplay...I imagine many are just on the train. If you actually play the games through just Uplay, it is much more stable and fast than Steam. I wager that 90% who complain about Uplay are trying to play through Steam and then Uplay. Of COURSE there will be problems with two platforms AND any possible DRM.

Seriously, it's free, stop complaining.

Each and every publisher having their own store and storing my sensitive data God knows where, just because they want more data to crunch, is not. That's all.

That doesn't even apply. Facebook is an advertising company. It's not even a side gig to make profit. That IS facebook and there's no such thing as a "social media company".

This is just a launcher, and you don't even need a CC here or origin. You can even use a throwaway email if you want.

Exactly I love Steam and all but outside of one “black mark” that is Black Flag I buy my Ubi games for Uplay to avoid the whole “stacking” issue. But every new release the masses do the Steam/Uplay thing then whine about it.

What push? I don't even get emails from either one (I do from steam but it's optional). You don't even need to use their store and "see" a game ad. The apps let you go directly to library. And I said you can use a dummy email. You can use dummy everything. What exactly are they gonna mine? Geez. All it cares about is a valid game code. One that you get for free in this case. lol

Uplay has always worked fine for me. I have Farcry 3,4 and AC Black Flag on it and they all worked great. It is an easier process than Origin, which has actually been hacked a few times as my language has been set to Russian. I've made the password very complex now as a result. Actually if you want to complain about a platform, complain about Battlelog in the BF3, BF4 era where it had to be run out of the web browser. That was bad.

What advantage do you see in having more stores? GOG has pressured Steam into offering more frequent and substantial deals, but Uplay or Origin never did anything for the customer, afaik.
