CaseLabs' Popular Magnum SMA8 Case Undergoes Transformation

Premium custom PC case maker CaseLabs announced today a new revision to the Magnum SMA8 case which is easily the company's most popular and best-selling case. The original Magnum SMA8 was released two years ago, and it has become the preferred case for many water-cooling aficionados. The Magnum SMA8 A Revision (SMA8-A) has been refined to make the build process even more enjoyable, and more personalized than ever before! The new revision will be available for pre-order soon.


Here are just SOME of the upgrades.

• New front I/O panel with USB 3.1 type C, HDMI, USB 3.0 and HD Audio
• New front cover options including a front mounted tempered glass window, and pure ventilation (neither have Flex-Bay openings, but are capable of mounting fans/radiators behind them, not to mention much easier to access and clean fans).
• New aluminum cable management clamps
• New extra tall double wide reservoir mount
• New tempered glass windowed door panel
• Improved cable and tubing routing options with added tie-downs not visible from the motherboard chamber
• Bottom radiator mount installs from the outside (much easier to install). The mount is a 560 mount by default with included, removable, 480 adapter rails.
• Added drive capacity (2 x HDD or 4 x SSD with adapters)
• Luminous mid-plate panel designed by Charles Harwood of Xforma.
• Case lighting support rails (lighting not included)

-CL still needs to modernize their HD mounting mechanisms, most cases for the past half decade+ have had slide in trays, and yes, people still build PC's with HDs

Oh boy... In that case you should look into another chassis mfgr... CaseLabs is known for their minimalist all aluminum modular designs. Their Bullet series is probably their most curvy design they have.

The HDMI up front is good for those who use VR Headsets. You don't need to constantly plug and unplug from the back.

No I know them well -- almost got a BH8 but they didnt have a closed top panel and the side come apart slightly when picked up.

It's still needlessly ugly. Would get a Pinnacle 24/18 over this anyday.

Very long answer: No

CL never sold case with dust filters and I can't see that changing.

Believe me, I was no fan of RGB at first, but only because of the damn rainbow product shots you usually see. There's something cool about selecting just one color scheme. My only issue is once you get one RGB piece, you kind of want to do it to everything. So it's not wise unless you're buying it all at once.

That is an ugly case I would have loved in the 90s. The airflow looks awesome! I would make a custom grill for the fans and then it would probably look great though.

Personally I have no need for dust filters. If you keep your home clean you'll find very little dust in your machines. Plus, just buy a $50 blower on Amazon and it takes all of 30 seconds to blow the machines out every 6 months or so.

Yeah, that's how they get you. And you're stuck trying to keep everything matching. I wish there was one standard to make everything play nice together. I had a Thermaltake AIO 360mm cooler so I had to go with all Thermaltake fans to make the software work. Not cheap but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Back on topic, I actually really like this case from Caselabs, looks MASSIVE. I'm tempted to buy and store it for my next build that I don't need...lol.

There are 3rd party filters that you put on most CL cases, dmcflex makes them, have mine behind the front panel, and you cant see them, and they are magnetic and come off ez for cleaning, inevitably, dust does find a way to get inside and you still have to clean the case every so often no matter what filter you have on what case you have

This case is nothing compared to what the new Magnum series consists of. You couldn't create an epic custom loop set up in this case compared to a Magnum series. The cases that tend to be featured for their quality and integrity are the Magnum series caselab cases (for a reason).

Indeed, no room at the moment for the one I got (bought off a chap in Florida for not a bad deal). Reason I can't wait when I do have the room to see how many computers I can shove in one case.
