Make sure you have flatter than normal ears. Many folks (including myself) have noted the very shallow ear cups. I find that my ear touches the speaker grill and becomes achy after about an hour of use.

I changed to a LucidSound LS40 and it's much better imo - though I probably should have saved $70 and went with the LS30. Comfier, sounds better, works on Xbox along with the PS4 and PC, and no proprietary cables needed.

Better sound than the Arctic? I'm really looking at it for the wireless capability because I'm slowly making a work corner in my room that is too far from my main rig to have a cable go across.

Yup, a much "fuller" overall sound and it has richer bass too. Frankly I was quite disappointed with the Arctis - build quality was good though, perhaps slightly better than the LucidSound. I bought my LS40 pair from BestBuy when I was in the US earlier this year as we didn't have them in Australia at the time.

Also I had to get my Arctis 7 replaced because of faulty wireless (constant drop-outs and static sounds). I still get static sounds sometimes but no more drop-outs. Just to note, the LucidSound has a wireless USB dongle rather than the wireless puck on the Arctis. Also the LS40 has Dolby Live compatibility for better surround effects (ie; a surround mode that doesn't turn the playback into soup like on many other headsets), but I normally just use the stereo profile.

Do you know if the LS30 has the wireless part too?

Yup the LS30 is wireless. And my bad, the only difference between the LS30 and LS40 is that the LS30 misses out on the DTS Headphone X 7.1 virtual surround sound effects (though I mainly use the standard stereo profile on my LS40) - it still has optical-in on the USB dongle though I don't know what its purpose would be. I use the built-in mic quite a bit when I'm on the go for phone calls which works great because it means that I don't look like I'm wearing a gaming headset as I just remove the boom mic.

LS30 also misses out on the carry pouch but for such a saving in price I think the LS30 would be the better buy. I guess I got a bit ripped off with the LS40 haha.

LS30 is 100 bucks right now. I might go for it tbh.
