To complement the release of the highly anticipated new Define R6, Fractal Design announces two accompanying accessories to even further expand the capabilities of the new case, both visually and technologically. The Connect D1 upgrade kit enhances speed and convenience with full USB 3.1 Gen 2 support and the latest Type-C connector. The Connect D1, available for purchase in early 2018, enables fast charging and blazing 10Gbps transfer speeds on compatible motherboards and devices with hassle-free bidirectional Type-C connections.

The Flex VRC-25 offers a unique step-up in style as a vertical PCI-E riser card and extender, making your graphics card the outward facing centerpiece of your build. Coming late January, R6 owners can free their GPU from the bounds of traditional mounting with confidence knowing the Flex VCR-25 is stress-tested for guaranteed stable, uncompromised performance. The Flex VCR-25's patented shielded overlap cable and riser card solution is specially fitted with custom standoffs for the Define R6, ensuring every installation is as clean-looking, reliable and rock-solid as the case itself.

Flex VRC-25 Key Features
  • Full PCI Express 3.0 support offering uncompromised performance for high-powered GPUs
  • Patented shielded overlap cable structure guarantees maximum transmission speed and stability
  • Extra-long 210mm heavy gauge ribbon cable is both durable and flexible

Looking at my own R5, the power button/usb panel is fused to the front panel. So, nope not compatible.

Looking at my Define S, it looks like it could fit, if you are willing to drill the screw holes yourself. Maybe you would also have to dremel some of the front panel, since it seems to be a little wider than the normal assembly.

I won't be greeting an R6 (I already think my R4 is far too big), but if I ever make the scratch built SFF case I'm sketching out, that front panel piece would be a shoo-in. Would make front IO and everything else oh so simple.

One of the good thing about those panels is that you can buy it if you build a custom case.

$30 friggin bucks for something that should have been installed on the case by default, wow what a prize Fractal, thanks but no thanks. And all you get is ONE (1) USB-C port, ouch......

Well not everyone wants it and it would have added to the price. This makes sense to me.

Well, if they are selling it for $30 as an add on, then they are obviously mass producing them, which means their actual cost is around $10 at most, so for people who are gonna buy the case anyways, I seriously doubt another $10-15 would matter much....

And why would anyone considering buying a new case NOT want it to contain current-generation I/O capabilities ????

And Fyi, I just bought a 2x USB-C + 2x 3.0 bay device for my son's computer for $20......

Well then this is a better deal. This has seven ports total for $30, you paid $20 for a total of four ports. Anyhow, not too many cases have USB C ports . Sure it would be nice to have but it's definitely not a deal breaker for me or most people I would imagine. Fractal has always been a great bang for your buck brand. $10-$20 or even $30 on top does affect sales considering the price point they're in.
