ASRock today announced that it has posted motherboard BIOS updates for its socket AM4 motherboard product lineup, which enables support for AMD Ryzen 3 2200G and Ryzen 5 2400G APUs based on the "Raven Ridge" silicon. The company posted BIOS updates for all 18 of its AM4 motherboard models, based on AMD X370, B350, and A320 chipsets. To get your BIOS update, visit the downloads section of the product page of your motherboard model on ASRock company website.

In related news, it looks like AMD has standardized a new label for use by motherboard manufacturers on their product boxes to denote out of the box support for AMD Ryzen 2000 series processors, on newer batches of their AMD 300-series chipset motherboards. Motherboards without this label likely won't support chips such as the 2200G or 2400G out of the box, and will require a BIOS update using a supported Ryzen "Summit Ridge" processor first. Motherboards based on the upcoming AMD 400-series chipsets, which should launch in Q2-2018, will support "Raven Ridge" and upcoming "Pinnacle Ridge" processors out of the box, including backwards-compatibility for existing "Summit Ridge" processors.

All AM4 motherboards, from any vendor, have hdmi output. Which led to many confused people with ryzen processors didn't know the motherboard output will only work with an apu....

No updates for Taichi, yet.

Question: is Raven Ridge support the only change?

Also, and unrelated to the topic: i couldn't quote OP directly nor could i quote part of it as well. Had to copy the portion above and insert quote for it to work: weird.

That's simply not true, there are a few boards that have no display output, like the ROG Crosshair VI Hero for example.
So please don't generalise things before doing your research.

I think "Desktop AMD Ryzen 2000 Ready" would be better worded than what AMD came up with...

Xmp is working for me since I updated my ab350m to the raven ridge bios, it wasn't previously, my OC is more stable at 3.9 with less volts.

So... This is more or less the AMD equivalent of the Intel Kaby Lake on 100 series chipset issue?

FYI the Fatal1ty I used which I gave to a friend is still a version behind the Taichi, that is embarrassing to say the least. :banghead:
Given the 2 boards are almost identical except for a few extra features, it seriously put a dent in my confidence in Asrock.

Even better is the X399 Fatal1ty I upgraded to, my Memory doesnt run at 3200 even when it is on the Memory QVL.

Perhaps you need to juice up the volts a bit for stability? I'm far from being an expert on the matter so ...

Im my case, all it took for the RAM to run @ 3200 was to put in place the XMP profile: didn't have to change anything else. My RAM is in system specs, in case you're wondering.

Late EDIT

That's with the BIOS version 3.0 and up, btw.

They didn't put one new BIOS for Taichi: they put TWO. Versions 3.30 and ... 4.40.

To update to the latest one, you'll need to update to the other one 1st as it appears to act as a bridge (???).

No, not really. They are allowing bios vendors to update. Big difference.

Do exactly what the instructions state; update to version 3.3 first, then update to version 4.4. It's a two-phase incremental update to the BIOS.
