ASUS released the first 16:10 aspect-ratio monitor in ages - the Pro Series C624BQH. This 24.1-inch monitor features many of the display innovations ASUS made in recent years, but comes with an eye-pleasing 16:10 aspect-ratio, and WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) resolution, which should please professionals and gamers alike. Under the hood, is an IPS panel with 100% sRGB coverage, TÜV Rheinland-certified flicker-free LED backlighting, blue-light reduction, and an office-friendly stand that offers height, tilt, and 90° rotation.

The IPS panel offers 178°/178° viewing angles, 5 ms (GTG) response time, 60 Hz refresh-rate, 300 cd/m² maximum brightness, 1000:1 static- and dynamic mega-contrast ratios; and a matte-black surface. Inputs include DisplayPort, HDMI, D-Sub, and DVI. Other features include a multi-format card reader, two downstream USB 3.0 ports, and audio jacks. The company didn't reveal pricing.

It has been a very long time since someone released a 16x10 aspect ratio display. I really dislike 16x9 aspect ratio and would have liked to buy a 16x10 27" display rather than my current 1440p one.

There have been 16:10 displays, just none aimed at the consumer market (and thus, with reasonable prices). All the 16:10 displays lately have been for the professional market which costs a lot more.

I do agree with the general 16:10 sentiment though. I wish that someone would make a 24" or even 27" display with 1600p. Right now the smallest 1600p display is 30" and I don't have the space for that. I'm still using a 24" 1200p display so this isn't anything new for me.

And this is why I really wouldn't get my hopes up.

My Acer AL2416W 24 inch monitor is 1200p and much better than the other 24 inch 1080p Acer monitor we use. It is now a decade old and still going strong. I paid only $300 AUD for it in 2008 when (worse looking) Samsung monitors were $500. The AL2416W is a VA screen and is very suited to photo editing in PS. Touch wood it can't last forever so this Asus is welcome. I wish 4K monitors were 2400P but that is not happening. Why? Gaming is not the only market. Photographers shoot 3:2 ratio and that is better on a 16:10 screen.

Shame it is only a 8 bit display. No mention of a lookup table either.
