Square Enix today announced that the final installment in the Tomb Raider origins trilogy is being released on September 14th this year. Moving on from their previous "timed exclusive" contract with Microsoft, which saw Rise of the Tomb Raider be first published on the Xbox family of devices, the latest game will be available for all platforms - PC, PS4 and Xbox - on release date.

The new game in the Tomb Raider series has moved hands, though, leaving Crystal Dynamics' studios (who is now working on an Avengers video game with Marvel), and was taken upon by Eidos Montreal - the studio best known for the latest (way better than they're given credit, by the way) Deus Ex games (Human Revolution and Mankind Divided). A full reveal of the game is expected next month, on April 27th - just two months before E3, which will certainly pave the way for even more content on the game. Square Enix is promising users they'll "Experience Lara Croft's defining moment as she becomes the Tomb Raider". Interesting, no? Look after the break for a preview teaser.

Wait, this isn't done by Crystal Dynamics? I do have faith in Eidos Montreal and I would welcome some change in design/mechanics, but I hope it doesn't do a 180°.

What's with all those shitty and retarded names for game sequels recently?? Is like all those managers in charge of naming the games are non English speaking Japanese with no imagination :) :) :) :)
No offense to any Japanese guys in here, just the naming scheme is retarded recently for most of the AAA games....

I've yet to play Rise of the Tomb Raider or Mankind Divided... but I own them both.

I want to see their puzzles improve more and more, that's all I know.

That's a good sign. Eidos was the original dev for the Tomb Raider series. The series has come home.
Actually, Tomb Raider was developed by Core Design. Eidos was just the publisher. Besides, I don't think Eidos of the past has much in common with Eidos Montreal of today, apart from the name.

All in all, I'm not particularly excited. The Tomb Raider reboot was quite decent. Rise of the Tomb Raider was technically very impressive, but lackluster overall gameplay (as it suffered from the "Ubisoft: the game" syndrome), and had a boring and bland story. So Eidos Montreal being developing it could be a good sign, or it could be all the same if Square Enix interfere too much.

Time will tell.

There are several versions including XBO, PS4, Windows, Linux and MacOS. The console versions, I would agree with you. The PC and Linux versions however are a much better experience. Thus my question about which version you were referring to.

I don't own any recent console, but anyway the term "embarassing" wasn't only referring to the technical part of the game, so it really doesn't matter what platform i was referring to.

I rather like the action, but yeah.. I would say it's just more cheap when there's a glaring lack of puzzles.

Ah, so the storyline then? I personally wouldn't say "embarrassing", but I'll agree that it could have been better.

My "embarassing" referred to the whole game, it was, and still is a technical mess, and the storyline, characters and level design is very poor, atmosphere and setting were also not even acceptable for a Deus Ex game, but that's just my preference...

Can totally see your point. It did have a different "feel" to it from other entries in the series.
