Fortigis Inc., today announced the launch of Fortigis, a cloud-enabled privacy & security wireless Virtual Private Network (VPN) router that patrols and controls who connects to a user's Wi-Fi network. The Indiegogo campaign for Fortigis, which is being managed by the Launchpad Agency, has a funding goal of $50,000 USD, and features limited Super Early Bird Specials of $199 as well as several other rewards for backers.

Fortigis uses a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to provide users online privacy and anonymity by creating a secure and private network. The secure connection encrypts all of the user's incoming and outgoing web traffic so no one can trace their online activity, protecting them against identity theft, ad targeting and having their online transactions such as online shopping or banking hijacked.

Through the secure VPN connection, Fortigis connects to a security cloud powered by a patent-pending, AI-driven adaptive security algorithm that automatically ensures that all inbound and outbound traffic is completely private and clean from any viruses, malware, ransomware and other threats. It also utilizes a crowd-sourced threat intelligence that automatically updates all Fortigis routers when one is attacked by a new threat to provide cutting-edge protection. A low cost monthly subscription is necessary to take advantage of the AI-driven Cloud and the up to 200Mbps VPN.

Fortigis has a beautiful, modern, Rubik's Cube-inspired design and has no moving parts for whisper-quiet functionality to fit any household perfectly. Fortigis is not only attractive, but it's very easy to use. Simply plug it into a power source and router and it's ready to use. Fortigis will automatically identify the type of the connected device and assign the relevant security profile.

"Fortigis provides people what they want when it comes to protecting their homes, family, and friends with the convenience and full security they deserve," said Yiannis Giokas, founder of Fortigis Inc. "Users won't have to worry about a complicated set up, or unexpected threats with unparalleled protection unseen in today's marketplace."

Fortigis also comes with a free app (iOS/Android/Web) that allows users to easily manage their protected network. Through the app they can confirm or deny access to anyone or anything trying to connect to their network. Users can also monitor all relevant analytics for all of their devices and network.

So this is for people that only have wireless devices?
How many consumer routers have moving parts? There are maybe a couple out of the hundreds, of not thousands of models that have fans, that's it...
Clearly a matter of design over functionality.

Edit: I see, it's not a router as such, as it has to connect to your router... At best, it's an access point. What a load of crap for $200...
Also note that there's a $100 a year service fee to use this thing...

It's clearly written by the marketing team who knows absolutely minimal about the product they're selling.

Not only that, are they willing to backup their claim of virus, malware, and other security claims with money?

Unless you had a virtual machine inside that ran every operating system in use to run the traffic into, then deploy it, then see what it does, then forward it on, it is no better than existing cheaper hardware firewalls, with Open DNS and existing updated blacklists. But you can already get all of this, with no yearly service fee from Ublock and other browser add-ons that use little resources and have platform specific applications.

I see this as another still born piece of crap.

A whole lot of IT power words in that marketing. "Disruptive" was able the only one I saw missing lol.

Seems like a company taking advantage of casual PC users who don't understand that you can sign up for a VPN, without buying a $200 ugly-as-sin router. Let's take a $30 router running a $50/yr VPN service, put it in an ugly shell, and market it with AI, cloud, crowdsourced, etc. terms to convince people to pay $200 for the router plus $100 a year for it. It's the kind of thing I'd expect to see on Shark Tank.

Not to mention any router that supports openvpn (including any running DD-WRT) can run it right on the router if you want and encrypt everything in and out.
