NVIDIA today released the latest version of its GeForce software suite. Version 391.35 WHQL drivers are game-ready for "Far Cry 5," the week's biggest AAA game release. This includes game optimization, an SLI profile, and GeForce Experience optimal settings. The drivers also add SLI profiles for "WRC 7" and GRIP.

The drivers also introduce security updates for a staggering seven CVEs, mostly relating vulnerabilities discovered in the kernel-mode layers of the driver, and user-mode drivers for DirectX and OpenGL. NVIDIA discovered that certain specially crafted pixel shaders can cause infinite loops and denial of service (system hang), or escalation of privileges. Besides these, the drivers patch a memory leak found in NVIDIA Freestyle (custom shader tool), bugs with 3D Profile Manager, and a game freeze noticed on "Diablo III" when rapidly switching tasks on SLI machines. Grab the drivers from the links below.

The change-log follows.
Game Ready
Provides the optimal gaming experience for Far Cry 5.

Security Updates
This driver adds security updates for driver components. Fixed issues are CVE-2018-6247, CVE-2018-6248, CVE-2018-6249, CVE-2018-6250, CVE-2018-6251, CVE-2018-6252, CVE-2018-6253. These CVEs are related to kernel mode, DirectX 10 and OpenGL drivers where certain operations may lead to Denial of Service or Escalation of Privileges.

Application SLI Profiles
Added or updated the following SLI profiles:
  • GRIP
  • WRC 7
3D Vision Profiles
Added or updated the following 3D Vision profiles:
  • Far Cry - Not recommended
  • GRIP - Excellent
  • The Talos Principle - Excellent
Fixed Issues in this Release
  • GeForce 3D Profile Manager tool can't import profiles. [2076480]
  • [GeForce Experience]: Memory leak occurs leading to poor game performance when using NVIDIA Freestyle. [2068039]
  • [NVIDIA Control Panel][SLI][Diablo III]: With V-Sync on and SLI enabled, the game freezes after switching windows (ALT+TAB) a few times. [1951584]
  • [Notebook]: The driver may fail to initialize the GPU. [200354056]
Known Issues
  • [Far Cry 5]: Green flickering occurs in the game when using HDR with non-native resolution. To work around, either quit and then restart the game while in the desired resolution, or press [Alt+tab] away from and then back to the game, or press [Alt+Enter] to switch to windowed mode and then back to full-screen mode.
  • [NVIDIA TITAN V][G-Sync]: G-Sync displays may go blank when switching between different overclocked memory clocks multiple times. [200361272]
  • [SLI][GeForce GTX 780 Ti]: There is no display output when connecting the DisplayPort and two DVI monitors. [1835763]
  • [GeForce TITAN (Kepler-based)]: The OS fails after installing the graphics card on a Threadripper-enabled motherboard. [1973303]
  • [Pascal GPUs][Gears of War 4]: Blue-screen crash may occur while playing the game. [2008731]
  • [GeForce GTX 1080 Ti][Doom]: The game crashes due to the driver reverting to OpenGL 1.1 when HDR is enabled. [2049623]

I really cannot grasp the root cause of this... where it lies really.

So basically stay away from fake HDR monitors (HDR Certification ones haven't even come out yet, all the ones on the market are fake HDR to begin with), and stick with Intel when using Nvidia GPU's.

Nothing new here, move on folks. :nutkick:

Are you drunk?

I was asking about the root cause causing such fatal error, at such early OS stage, because sister SKU work fine, it is not memory or PCIE controller compatibility, some sort of bios related shadowing/size, reading some specific regions?

Agreed I recently bought and LG 4K with fake HDR was a little disappointed. It’s a nice IPS panel regardless so I’m still satisfied.

HDR is a joke until the HDR certifcation TV's and Monitor's start rolling out in early 2019 or late 2018, and they will require a minimum 600 Nits brightness to achieve this certificate industry standard. Currently no mainstream monitor or TV (some 3 grand+ tv's offer high nits brightness and HDR but price is not close to mainstream yet) offers this high a nits of brightness, therefore, all HDR is currently fake.

Many people paying for that HDR tax as early adopters though and none the wiser. Easy money for manufactures for almost every new technology.

HDR on TV nowadays can be easily replicated on a PC Monitor, by simply tuning the contrast+gamma settings. Like in the 20 years old+ Control Pannels of all video cards or video players. It's all fake. Even the 4K BluRays are HDR junk.

And then there is Dolby Vision for mixing the bag even more... Maybe when Vesa's DisplayHDR 1000 certified displays comes to market we actually have proper HDR displays. Well of course we are talking about Nvidia here so they don't necessary conform some Vesa Standard on this either(I.e. BFGD should be DisplayHDR1000 conformable, but will nvidia certify it as one).
