the 500X series will indeed be a rebrand and so far OEM only, ive seen the Device IDs of 570X and 580X and its the EXACT same as 580 and 570 but with a dell subsystem id, even the same revision ID, rev id is what separates them from eachother in AMDs case

1002 67FF Rev E5 = RX 560D
1002 67FF Rev E0 = RX 560 Mobile
1002 67FF Rev CF = RX 560
1002 67DF Rev EF = RX 570
1002 67DF Rev E7 = RX 580

1002 67FF 1028 1726 Rev E5 = AMD Radeon RX 560DX
1002 67FF 103C 8479 Rev E0 = AMD Radeon RX 560X Mobile
1002 67FF 1028 1721 Rev CF = AMD Radeon RX 560X
1002 67DF 1028 1722 Rev EF = AMD Radeon RX 570X
1002 67DF 1028 1723 Rev E7 = AMD Radeon RX 580X

that settles it for me, the rebrand is no longer rumor its indeed fact.

How could it even be die shrink if it have same revision id? Even rx 480 14nm LPE to RX 580 14nm LPP revision id changed, which was more minor change than 14nm LPP to 12nm LP would be(which is not really die shrink).

because they needed to separate 480 from 580 in drivers, since X series is still 500 series they figure they can be lazy and not change it.
same reason why RX 580 and RX 580 XTR have same rev ID

i dont know if there is a die shrink or not, but from the latest post tpu just did i highly doubt it now

there will be mobile variants.

Does it matter? We game at 1440p +, I doubt any of these cards are meant for us, as before AMD can only ask for 1080p market. Unless you like mediocre frames in high rez high refresh gaming of course.

Show me a game on 1440P which a 580 cannot handle.

Probably ff15 max settings

But i know what you mean

I game at 1440p 165hz... my 1080 ti at 2075 core cant even play ghost recon wildlands at 80 fps max settings.... i lower settings down to medium so i can get 120+ fps, as I prefer the smooth no motion blur fun of the action that refresh gives my eyes.

but sure thing, the 580 can handle my level of gaming just fine...

i have a 1080Ti also but at 2025MHz, i would only lower the quality for a racing game, as for ff15 you wont have an advantage it being smoother, ive tried. and i dont play FPS anymore.

i think ff15 is the most taxing game to date. 42FPS 4k 60hz lol

I don't think I will ever make the move to 4k honestly, I love my high refresh too much, no motion blur just makes action games more fun to me. It is all preference though.

Should be 120hz 4k next year 4k will catch up, then 8k 60hz will come out etc.

When you put it that way, my 1080p 60 Hz monitor that doesn't even manage true 8-bit depth per color (it's 6-bit + FRC, from what I could find about it) feels so... vintage...

Dream on lol. There are 8K panels already, doesn't mean its feasible to game on :D

Super high resolution really is quite pointless for moving images, I will keep saying this, and like very high FPS its not a linear advantage either. The higher you go, the less it matters.

1440p wont always be the sweet spot, when 4k 144hz becomes the enthusiast norm noone in that bracket will use 1440p again, thats assuming you have the gpu for it, so basically the top 1%

4K is already where it is at. Just need those extra hz and I will be perfectly happy.
