Consumers have choice in between, TRAY and BOXED.

Tray means just the chip, without cooler. BOXED means with cooler. AMD's warranty was based on BOXED CPU's.

AMD sells boxed WOF CPU's to this day.

Here are two of them

Uh yeah, plenty of other TRAY based CPU's. Just the chip, no cooler.

Those maintain the same warranty as every other boxed cpu. What you are comparing is purchasing an OEM vs retail product. Retail products come with a full manufacturers warranty such as the 9590 when purchased like shown above. The entire current K series lineup from Intel ship WOF. That doesn't make it a tray (OEM) product.

For example on the left we have a retail WOF intel 8700K on the right we have an OEM WOF intel 8700K one of these has the three year warranty from Intel one does not, neither has a fan.

Consumers have choice in between, TRAY and BOXED.

Tray means just the chip, without cooler. BOXED means with cooler. AMD's warranty was based on BOXED CPU's.

SO all of this that you posted is just blatantly wrong.

is hard to proof cooler was the fault for killing a cpu... even if the used cooler can't handle tdp is hard to kill the cpu due heat; it will shutdown to protect itself

i'm sure they'll change in general warranty 2 years almost all cpu's with issue anyway except those delidded and with physical damage(bent/broken pin, missing rezistor ,lapped, cracked..)

It's just pretty damn impossible to prove that the stock cooler hasn't been used..

Delidding is only for the extreme. Joe doe does not need delidding of a CPU. And since AMD's Ryzen is soldered and offers just 4 degrees difference with delid + liquid metal it's waste of money.

Most users wipe that clean when removing the CPU from a socket.
That could void warranty then lol, your not supposted to remove cooler at all.

Just saying they can find ways also testing the type of paste on cooler.

I really don't think that's the case , otherwise how are you going to ship the damn things ?

Just saying they can find ways also testing the type of paste on cooler.

I can guarantee you they'll never go to such lengths to deny your warranty. CPU failure rates are incredibly low so they can't be bothered .

Ok, prove up. How would they do it? Micro-camera embedded in the IHS with it's own psu running off the CPU voltage maybe? Or perhaps the TIM on the provided heatsink has a very mild acid which will etch a distinct, but microscopic, pattern into the top of the IHS? Hmm?

Exactly right. The whole thing was a FUD scare tactic which has failed. Intel tried a similar thing more than a decade ago and they were correctly put in their place over it.

When it comes to warranties on almost any electronic device these days. Lying is your best friend and honestly the company would rather refund or replace vs having a customer leave unhappy. At the end of the day, they want your money. Warranties and customer support are important to any company. They generally give the customer the benefit of the doubt even if they know for a fact that the customer is in the wrong. It's easier to shell out a replacement than deal with the hassle of disgruntled customers.

For example, I've had phones, tablets, laptops, and gpu's come into work where the device had clearly been opened and or tampered with beyond factory conditions. Did we void the warranty? If the customer said they opened and voided the warranty, then we can choose not to replace their product. If the customer decides to lie and say they did not open the product and void the warranty. We are inclined to believe them....cough cough cough.

Lying on a warranty claim is fraud. You can do that and feel good about potentially saving a few dollars. I instead will simply buy products from companies that back their products. Either way, I'm not going to live with a lie for the rest of my life for paper bills.

Whether or not they can do it with that law or not is another story, but all im saying *again* is its possible

And if you clean it then that would be a red flag.. Simple

I don't think that a typical re-seller is doing that.

At least when I got a DOA Pentium G4560 (well, it worked for few days, then it worked only with 1c/2t) and the stock cooler was untouched (the paste was still on it), and there was no problems replacing it.

Well yea thats the point is replacement if stock cooler is used, i dont see them doing this either but im saying its possible thats all.

Yet the Wraith is still the same cooler that came with my what, 15 year old Opty 170? Just a different fan...still a pretty decent cooler compared to Intel’s stock offerings, those have literally never left the box they came in ...

Ah, I'll take that as smart-a$$ sarcasm. Can't be that your trolling because that's a no-no for staff...

Really? People being clean and tidy isn't a plausible reason then?
